August 6, 201114 yr There's probably a few threads like this already, but WTH, posting my own. ;) After some initial configuration issues and a lot of adjustment to get NGX to run on my circa 2007, 32-bit Vista Equipped Dell XPS M1710 Laptop (I keep the ole thing around just for FSX and SSM), I think I finally got 'er figured out. Just completed a beautiful nighttime MTOW Air Hauler run from KGSB to a picture-perfect ILS approach into KLBB in decent weather and without any NGX or FSX hiccups....or slowdowns...the culmination of a 3 mission session. From cold and dark to cold and dark, the only remaining problem I have is with the slow texture load time on the external view (AA 800WL)...and that's not really a big deal in light of the 2GB of Ram the laptop has on board. The bird performed beautifully and the sound....the sound is fantastic through a set of headphones (the bass really gives you the feeling you are there)! The MD-11 & J41 have always been silky smooth on my laptop, having over 200 trouble-free missions between them in Air Hauler (with ASE and its predecessor), but the NGX presented some challenges. My first few flights were filled with laggy performance and ended with OOM errors (with and without ASE running beside it). I set about re-examining/disabling all of the non-essential services my machine was running, defragging the drive again, installing an external frame limiter, and refining my already well-combed through FSX settings. The end result is a still great looking FSX environment with a crash-free NGX... Running Air Hauler and ASE (DWC mode, PMDG-tweaked per Hi-Fi) beside FSX (equipped with X-Graphics textures), I managed to pull off a run that remained under 85% usage on the memory throughout the flight. I consider it a major victory! :D You all have done an excellent job with this bird, a great follow up to the MD-11 for sure. Thanks! Nice to read it, I like your post and I am quite bored of seeing 2600k and 560 within signatures.....
