My personal thoughts on B737-800/900 and suggestions request

Featured Replies

Dear PMDG, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this beautiful, graceful and feature-packed representation of B737-800/900. I must say that I had a very trouble-free customer experience right after Robert announced that the store had once again been opened for business. Purchased the plane from the store, received the email almost instantly and proceeded to download at my regular download speed - 4Mbps approx. Yes, very impressed so far! I was itching to get home from work and fly the bird..made a quick pit stop at the local watering hole to brag about the NGX and finally got home slightly under the influence! The installation was smooth and without trouble. Jumped straight into it parked up at KBFI. I was amazed at the crisp displays (with smudged fingerprints!) and had goosebumps after finally jumping into the cockpit having waited for 3.5years!! The robust load manager is very cool to use from within the FMC. The textures are amazing. I hand flew a circuit at KBFI and she performed better than I had expected...an absolute dream to hand-fly! The sounds and VERY realistic. I know this as I've flown on quite a few 737s and the realism factor is brilliant. The FPS was not as I had expected but need to tweak/defrag/test once again later today. It could be down to my system.. Config as follows: Proc - Intel 6600 @ 3.2GhzMem - 4GB DDR2ATi 4870 with 512Mb memorySATAII 1TB HDDMS Windows Vista w/SP1FSX w/SP2, REX, ASE and a host of other addons including PMDG B747-400, MD11 and J41 I was getting about 14-18fps in the VC sitting at KBFI with REX textures and ASE wx. I've read in other topics that defrag helps and will give that a go. My system is not the latest (actually built about 3years ago) but any suggestions to improve performance would be greatly appreciated. PMDG, once again, THANK YOU for bringing this pleasure to our beloved hobby. Regards, Sumit

Sumit,Try to use a notebook or desktop with the latest CPU technology (Core i5 or Core i7). A RAM with 4GB should be fine but 6GB is better. Also new computers are coming with RAM type DDR3 technology instead of DDR2. But what make difference here is the video card. Try to use a Nvdia GeForce with dedicated 1GB or 2GB (better). You'll see a incredible difference and huge performance.Best Regards,Adenilson

There are instructions on increasing the performance in the tutorial manual. Good luck. This is a very complex simulation, so one should not expect miracles with a 2 GHz single core P4... henriAngel.gif

with [email protected], and gtx 590, and 8 gb ram,i get about 10-15 fps with all sliders at maximum, however the sim is smooth so i guess it does not make a difference, virtual cockpit is fantastic though i am disappointed with 2d panel, guess pmdg does not want us to fly with 2d panels, vivek anand
