December 28, 200322 yr Is is possible to play fs2002 without having to use disk 3 every time? My cd is really starting to get scratched and I was hoping there was a way to extract the files that it needs to the hard drive instead so it doesn't need the CD. I realize there is a nocd hack for fs2004, but is there something similar for 2002?
December 28, 200322 yr A wise decision of MS, allowed the 'owners' of FS2002, to enjoy the game without verification of having 'stolen' it or not. Thus, yes. kind regardsJaap
December 28, 200322 yr Actually, are you sure you did a full install of FS2002 from the beginning? I never once had to insert the CD after installing it. You may have selected a smaller installation inadvertantly long ago. Try uninstalling and reinstalling again and look for that option.
December 28, 200322 yr The US version had no protection. But I believe the Euro version did.So perhaps he either didn't do a full install or has an Overseas version.
December 28, 200322 yr The German version of FS2002 does not need any CD in the drive, and I have heard of no other European version that would need it.VOlker :]
December 29, 200322 yr Actually I have the U.S. release. I did a custom install and only deselected a couple of European airports that I didn't need, in addition to some foreign scenery. So what you are saying is that I need to do a full install no matter what?
December 29, 200322 yr Author I would say yes...The sim is probably attempting to confirm that the scenery would be available on the CD *prior* to you launching, so that you encounter no pauses in the action as it attempts to load the non-installed scenery files.A full install is advisable.FS2002 does not require any disc to be in the drive for copy protection... On my full FS2002 install, I have never needed to put the disc in the drive.Good luck!-Greg
