December 29, 200322 yr With fs 9 and the way the fantastic scenery these guys are coming out with it's nice to get out of the heavies and real world procedures on line and fly vfr to appriciate the scenery. So i downloaded Shigeru's mustang to do it in. I have the awesome Dream fleet Archer for vfr but it's cool to dip down in the valley's in real weather with this cause it really goes.It has no radioes so you need the gps at least. Does any one know some speeds like when do you start flaps down and up - what manifold setting in cruise and take off what rpm should a guy use ? Just basic settings more or less. I put the panel default from the vought but it doen't have a gps so i went back to the default that comes with this mustang --the sound in this is also awesome by the way---.Louis
December 29, 200322 yr Hi Lou....like you, I am awed by the mustang and enjoy flying it much the way you do. December 30, 200322 yr Author Nice to hear that I'm not alone here :)I love to plan and go through a flight with the PMDG 737, but some times I get the "Need for Speed", and climb into a ww2 bird!Landing tip, whatever ww2 fighter you fly, try this: Go to 1000 feet agl, go dirty (flaps and wheels down). Slow down until you get the stall warning and notice the speed. Then you are set for landing. Try to get a low curve to the rw (3 reds on the papi), and aim for an flare attitude where all three wheels are paralell with the rw at a speed just above the stall speed. When you can smell the asphalt, cut the throttle. If you hear the stall sound for a fraction of a second just before you hit the rw with all wheels, youv'e made a good three point landing and it looks impressing in replay!Difficult to do this in 2d cockpit though. I downloaded the P51, but there's no gauges in the VC, so I threw it away. Now I have three ww2 birds that I really enjoy: Aeroplane Heaven's P47D and Boomerang (the P47 needs some VC panel adjustments), and a home made Spitfire (best of 6 planes put together in one). Rumours says that Aeroplane heaven is working on a new P51, looking forward to it!You also should try the FS-Force add-on if you use an FF stick, I made an insane profile for ww2 bird trying to make it heavy on the stick ...Here's some old screenshots, Spitfire upside down under London Bridge and P47 in New York:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/55190.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/55194.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/55199.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/55200.jpgHave fun!Eagle
