Throttle problems

Featured Replies

Okay, I didn't want to hijack anyone's thread and my problem is close to the others I've read but not the same. So forgive me in advance if I should have attached it onto one of the current threads. I am having an issue with my Saitek throttle quadrant too. I have FSUIPC but not the registered version and as such my calibration is done through the Saitek software which I get to through the FSX menu. My problem is that after takeoff it starts to go out of alignment. Eventually it is so far out of whack that when I pull the throttles back I can only reduce to about 45%. I have calibrated them before the flight. I have attached a screen shot of the problem. I can still land, albeit with a little more speed than I would like, and can engage reverse thrust. Speaking of which I have that mapped to the bottom of the throttle so when I pull it back past the detent (sp?) it engages. In this picture I have turned the cyan throttle track feature on and have pulled the throttle all the way back to "0" thrust. Is this how it should be or is there a problem going on as I suspect? Oh I should probably mention that at the time I took this pic I was cruising at FL330 everything managed by the autopilot. And thank you PMDG for this plane. It has taken my expectations of enjoyment to a whole new level.

I don't know the excact number but I think this is the normal behavior ... if its go below 40 then not muchThe higher you fly the higher N1 ...

I apologize if this is a silly question. In my defense I am still learning and this fantastic plane is teaching me. I was under the impression that the max N1 was marked by the green arrowhead ">" but there is no mark for a min N1. The PMDG setup menu in the FMC allows you to "Show Thrust Lever Position" (Introduction pp 74) which is the blue-ish colored bar on the outer edge of the N1 display. As you notice with the throttles pulled all the way back it shows I can only go back to around 45% should I cut the auto-throttle at that moment. If this is totally normal and I'm learning something new fantastic, please let me know that is the case. If this is a bug I hope I have helped out by bringing this up. Thanks,Ed

this is not a bug and working as intended ...and yes if you cut A/T it will go back to 45% ...the blue thing shows just where your hardware is at the current moment, so that if you disconnect A/T you won't have any surprises and can adjust your saitek to the ammount the A/T is at too lessen the impact if you disengage it

Okay I think I understand. So at this flight level if I cut auto-throttle the lowest the 737 will allow me to manually place my throttle is to about 45%. It's sort of like a safety feature so even if the pilot screws up the plane won't lose all thrust, it will still have 45%. Did I understand that correctly?

I don't think its for saving pilot errorsinstead of not damaging itself if run with lowrpm ... I think its because if the force from the wind? against the turbine is greater then the force of the turbine itself it might get damaged and that is why it needs to run at a certain rpmI might be wrong and there might be another reason for it, if yes I don't know ... better ask someone who knows more then me :)
