Hotfis 8-16 issue..

Featured Replies

On the release version I never experienced any freezes or lockups. The first Hotfix gave me an irrecoverable freeze/lockup when I tried to set departure runway in the DEP/ARR page of the CDU. The 16th Aug Hotfix then gave me a freeze/lockup as you guys have described; AP/AT disconnect and warnings cancelled. Not having warm feelings about these Hotfixes! Specs: Win XP SP3 32bit, Core2Quad E9650 3.0Ghz, 4GB DDR2 RAM, 8800GTS 512 G92 Thanks.
Thus my feelings about holding off on the hotfixes until some of the issues are resolved.

Several panel freezes here and reduced FPS since hot fix 3

Thanks UVACP74.. I'm in communication with Ryan, and have referred him to this thread. Hopefully, something that we are putting in here will help him out. PS.. Majid?? What ever happened to Orest??? Man that guy could be rough on check rides :;lol;;..

Hi Captains, Just completed flight after installing hotfixes. ILS into Anchorage disengaged at 500ft, no handling issues. All systems worked ok. Will do a couple more flights and let you know if any issues.

Thanks deltatec. Its appreciated.. Let us know how it goes ok??For my part, after my communication with Ryan and he informed me of the memory issues, I decided to give him and the PMDG team the benefit if the doubt. After all, my own conclusions have many times proven to be not exactly on the bulls eye if ya know what i mean.. Now like i said before, i cant code ( ok i simply refuse to code or script.. too much thinking for my tastes ), but i wanted to reduce the memory footprint as much as I could. The only thing i could think of that would do it quickly was to reduce the size of the texture files. The Texture files for the 737NGX are all 4096x4096 pixels. When i was working on the OzX Grumman Goose, we discussed using that size ourselves but decided against it because of the amount of memory it would take up..I reduced the sizes of one of my textures to 2048x2048. Its still HD, but only half the memory footprint of the default files..The result was that i was able to make a flight from san fransisco to LA, and although the landing wasnt perfect, there were no freezes. There were no instances of veering off the runway, there was nothing but my jaw on the floor..IF you folks have the ability to resize your textures, please choose one texture and reduce it to 2048x2048 and fly the test again. Then let us know what happened. I'm not fully satisfied yet that this is a workable workaround, but its at least shown some movement in the right direction..Good luck. I'll look forward to your findings..Pam

ok, i've gotten a second successful test flight in after lowering the size of the texture files. I even went so far as to change my approach profile, my instrument package and more while i was in flight. The plane auto-landed perfectly on LAX 25r. I'm flying another test from lisbon to paris in part to change the location ( and therefore demands on the system ) and caztch up with what i owe my Pilots at TWVA.. I suspect however that there will be no problems..
