August 19, 201114 yr Hi All, Yesterday I flown with ngx to Airport Alfonso Bonilla Aragon (SKCL)I made an ILS approach for runway 01, because it was needed during weather conditions. The ngx captures the localizer and the glideslope. At the minimums around 400 and lower, I realized that the plane flies to high and also all the VASI lights illuminates Withe, so thats a reason for activating the GO around mode!I tried it for second time and the plane flies to high again and comes to end of the runway 01 at an altitude of 100ft, so I made again a GO around. For the 3th time I don't thrust the ILS approach so I made a VFR approach wiches was'nt easy during weather conditions:P How is it possible that the pink dots on the PFD gives me a correct information about the glideslope and the localizer? (dots were exactly in the middle.) But Why flies the ngx to high and comes to end of the runway at a flare alt?Did I missed something that is important? Landing alt is set 2450 ft...ILS freq: 109.900 I hope someone can help me! Volkan
August 19, 201114 yr Author Give me a sec, need to find the chart.. is it an addon or default airport?nope it is a default airport. How do you wanna find that? Is there a special website or something? Volkan
August 20, 201114 yr Author aca.mygamesonline.org/cartas/SKCL.pdf What do I do whit this file??I changed the landing alt several time, set to different alt, but doesn't work.It flies to high again and flares end of the runway 01. Volkan
August 20, 201114 yr Author aca.mygamesonline.org/cartas/SKCL.pdf here is the landing elevation 3162ft. but in FSX map is the landing alt 2450ft. I tried both landing alts, but doesn't work. Volkan
August 20, 201114 yr The problem is with the scenery, not your flying or the NGX. Microsoft placed SKCL at the wrong elevation in FSX, too low - probably the ILS would be fine if the airport was at the correct altitude. Maybe there is addon scenery that fixes the problem, you could try searching for that. Or you can fly another approach. August 20, 201114 yr I tried flying the ILS01 approach in the default Cessna, but got high on approach the way you described. I then had a look at the Wikipedia entry for Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport and noted that the airport elevation is 3,162 ft - considerably more than what I see in FSX when sitting on the runway. (I first tried to download the real-world airport chart from http://portal.aeroci.../aip/aerodromos, but the SKCL link didn't work for me). I'm just guessing that the elevation problem is causing the ILS trouble, but there definitely is a problem with the scenery when the ILS 01 doesn't take the default Cessna to the right spot on the runway. August 20, 201114 yr Author Anyway something is very very strange at this airport. That was first time and never fly again to SKCL :(.I hope FSX brings update for all runways around the world. There are enough changing on the runways and airports. Volkan
August 20, 201114 yr This ALWAYS happens when I fly into SKCL (Cali), the touchdown point (glideslope) is placed too far from the runway edge. The airport elevation is somewhat low... What is usually do when on approach to Cali is to take MANUAL control once I have runway visual... The approach to this airport is very interesting and hair-raising for the new pilot... Roy Joven T.
