September 10, 201114 yr Hi All, I have looked into this a bit more. FSX will not accept a true zero visibility value, it will convert it to a very low visibility. You can check this out by going to the custom weather screen in FSX and the lowest that the visibility slider will go is 1/16. Here is the 1/2 mile visibility: Here is the 1/16 mile visibility: Also, if you stay away from the weather screen in FSX the visibility will display much better.
September 13, 201114 yr Author sorry for answering late... FSX will not accept a true zero visibility value yes, and this is maybe the problem. Have a look at the screenshot. All I have done is dragging the Instrument conditions into the mapVisibility is then going down and then clearing up. As you can see is the METAR for LOWI (where I have dropped the IMC) now zero sm So why is ASE generating zero visibility if FSX does not support that? September 13, 201114 yr Hi, The METAR data is 1/2 mile visibility and that is what goes to FS and that is what FS uses. The Decoded information does not go anywhere but stays in ASE.. So ASE is not generating zero visibility and I have tested out the IMC weather theme and everything is good.
September 13, 201114 yr Author So ASE is not generating zero visibility and I have tested out the IMC weather theme and everything is good. ok, then the question stays on, why visibility is clearing up after fogging in (reproducable on 100%)???It is not only me, it also Nico as you can see a few threads above...Why is IMC theme not working here?? September 13, 201114 yr Hi, I can't say because all I can do is attempt to load the theme on my computer and it works 100% of the time.
September 13, 201114 yr Author ok, this was a not so good example.I just realised that half of the stations show 1/2 sm, the other half shows 0 sm. I have made some example screenshots that show ASE generating zero visiblity in the METAR. Of course, I don't know what ASE is doing in the background if its really generating zero visibility... I just want to help you to find a possible reason why my IMC conditions/low vis do not work.Maybe we have some issue with german windows, feet/meter error or whatever??? September 13, 201114 yr Author ok, got it: I found the IMC conditions file: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\HiFi\ASE\Weather named Instrument Conditions.ast Could be opened with Editor, you will find one line there.I have changed the value 1/2 sm to 0.1 sm Seems any value with slash "/" does not work here ... the whole line:KSEA 211600Z 12011G14KT 0.1SM OVC007 BKN060 OVC120 BKN290 15/12 Q1015 Now I get complete fogged in and it does not clear up instantly.maybe this is helpful for other users or future updates ....
