January 12, 200422 yr HiBack again after a couple of days away from the forums and I was correct when I started this thhread in my first assumption that FS9 out of the box is an ok product.Strangely enough last night I installed my VFR scenery for Wales and it was a complete mess, really messed up FS9. I could fly ok but it was the most ugly mess on screen that you have seen.So off it came, I then tried an experiment re framerates, I've always had them locked at 30, and achieve that all the time no problem. Just for a luagh I locked them at 40 just to see what happened and lo and behold they stayed at about 36-40 with autogen set at dense and scenery set at very dense. Now either something is very wrong or something is very right. Perhaps the frame lock actually doesn't do anything at all?Who knows the magic of Microsoft eh!WycliffeGigabyte Socket A MoBo GA-7DX®/GA-7DXEAMD XP2600+ Thoroughbred CPUFrontside Bus 256kb L3 CacheVerto GeForce FX 5200 AGP512mb RamSeagate 80 gig HarddriveSeagate 80 gig SlaveWindows XP

Even with only a couple of hundred>add-on aircraft, associated gauges and fifty or sixty add-on>sceneries, my FS is already sluggish to wake up in the>morning. Now there's a statement for the records: "even with only a couple of hundred add-on aircraft"! ONLY?! A plane a day and you'll still by flying a new plane every day well into summer!A quick search of the AVSIM library produces: "Current category: FS2004 Original Aircraft (308 files)"You've got 'em all, huh mark!?I'm still chuckling...Interesting post. Thanks to all.Best,sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
January 20, 200422 yr im with you on this one jon(?), downloading new aircraft is always dicey IMO as you, unless of course you fly them for real, wont know if the dynamics are accurate. i have the UK mesh from fsgenesis, the colorized textures and new water effects from this very site. As far as aircraft go i only really download re-paints of the original planes, britsh airways mainly. for the AI i use project AI and i have the 102 airlines and believe me it took a long time on my 3.2k/s transfer rate :(! but it really adds a new element to the experience and i have no idea why anyone would pay for UT when such a professional job has been done by the PAI team (major respect).i would say that what i would like to see in the next version is AI airport traffic like; people and land vehicles etc. as well as the atc amendments mentioned above. oh and the ability to get out of the plane and walk around the airport - to file flightplans, visit the tower, work at ATC(!), book tickets on other airlines to be a passenger etc! sounds wierd but it could work very nicely, sort of add a role playing element to the mix, training, getting jobs and newer planes (if your a private pilot). cheers,James
