September 7, 201114 yr Author Thanks again, Ron, I tried your suggestion - did not work. I even tried SAFE MODE - again NO luck. Somewhere in the process, I tried ®epair with my CD, reinstalled, but again NO cigar. When I have time, I'll try my 32-bit installation and see how that goes.Needless to say, any suggestions, no matter how crazy they may sound, are welcome.Abe

September 8, 201114 yr Author I get SYSTEM CHECK, License Agreement, and OPTIONS all checked off, then the warning.....NVIDIA INSTALLER FAILED.
September 9, 201114 yr Hi Abe, Sorry if this is sounds stupid, but you did 'accept' the licence agreement?? more crazy suggestions; 1. here is a link to instructions for 'complete' removal of old drivers, Uninstall again from add/remove programs, then you need to delete entries from the registry, so be sure to back up the registry before making changes. Too lengthy to post, but follow it through to remove all Nvidia files. http://www.tweakguid.../NVFORCE_3.html 2. Open Regedit, go to; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Nvidia corporation. Highlight it ( NV ), and select Edit, and check permissions, make sure you have full control etc. ( you may want to do this first before manual removal ) Try this; 3. Go to control panel > user accounts, and create a new user account, give it Admin rights etc.reboot into this new account and try installation again. ( you must be getting tired of this ) Ron.
September 9, 201114 yr Author Finally, Ron. SUCCESS!! Thanks !I followed steps that I have taken in the past. I followed your many instructions and referrals. Essentially, I ended up with using the device manager and followed the UPDATING PATH (where I extracted the driver files) this did not work with 280.26 nor 275.33 but worked (ASTONISHINGLY) with 270.61. I want to backup my X64 partition. Sleep on it for a while, checkout FSX performance.......Then TINKER VERY CAREFULLY---------------I repeat very carefully. Thanks again.Abe
