Video card FS2002 and 04

Featured Replies

A couple of thing to mention:One: I got a new video card, a Geforce 500FX or something, 128mB video ram, needs own power supply. The odd thing is, while FS2004 is now zipping along, FS2002 is stuttering. Does that have sometign to do with the way each is designed to take advantage of video card technology?? It's OK, though, since Im ready toa bandon 2002 now that 2004 is running so much smoother (even with great clouds), but I was just curious as to why the switch. Two: Maybe someone can answer this: shold I fiddle around with the settings (you know, the one with the card that sets 2X or 4x) or let the application do it?Sorry I cant be more specific (Im at work) and I dont want to start a thread thats been done to death.Just curious.JohnAs I said earlier, even on my 1.2GHz AMD machine, the new video card has made it really, really smooth, even with sliders near the right. I just love the clouds in FS2004 ....

There are lots of previous posts in the Hardware forum that you may wish to look at, but the short version is:Set mipmapping to 4 in FS9, disable anti-aliasing in FS9, and set it in the video card properties.Use up to date drivers (52.16 or later.. get from www.nvidia.com)Try setting AA=2 (or 4 if your computer can handle it) and AF=4.Suggest 1280x960x32 display resolution..Have fun!
