This girl is a bit special to me. As you will see in my signature, I was a Peace Corps Volunteer. I did my volunteer service in Fiji from 1/1977 to 5/79. So this Air Pacific Queen - Fiji brings back some memories. However, Air Pacific did not own 747's while I was there that I recall, or at least I never saw one. Fiji Air owned Norman Islanders, which I was fortunate to get more than a few hours in the right seat of. The only Air Pacific flight I ever took was from Nadi to Nukalofa, Tonga and that was a 737. Anyway, enough rambling... This flight was flown today and is from Honolulu to Los Angelas. A classic route from PHNL to KLAX was flown. That is, the flight crosses over the "beach" just south of Vandenburg and over Goleta. At that point, a turn to the south is executed, and depending on the actives, you will be vectored to the east (or west - but rarely). This flight was vectored to an ILS approach to 24R, which the last image captures

Hi! I also spent a year working in the South Pacific doing something which is like the UK version of Peace Corps before University. I had many friends in the Peace Corps and one of a Fulbright scholarship. I don't think I flew Air Pacific but I remeber I flew Virgin Atlantic from London to LA then spent a day in Santa Monica and flew Air New Zealand I think to Fiji. Spent a few days in Fiji and even got to take a small plane flight from Suva to Nadi I think. Anyway I spent my nine months in Vanuatu which is like Fiji but has less tourists and much stronger kava!
