September 7, 201114 yr O&O 14 Pro says my new SSD is 12% fragmented. Says 3000 files of 78000 are fragmented. I have not, and will not, attempt to defrag, but was wondering if this is normal???
September 7, 201114 yr That's normal, and it doesn't matter! Just make sure any "auto defrags" for that drive are disabled. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
September 7, 201114 yr Author Thanks, Zach, I'll check the auto defrag thing and make sure it is off.
September 7, 201114 yr SSD's will fragment like a mechanical drive, big difference is that it does not matter because the SSD is fast (Access time) that the fragmentation does not measurably hinder performance in the slightest. Hence we are not concerned with fragmentation when it comes to a SSD but I bet there are one or two around to dispute that issue; chiefly those companies (not O&O) that sell defragmentation programs for SSD.
