From straight and level with AP engaged, how do you set a climb or descent rate without having to disengage the AP, maually fly to the desired VS and then re-engage the AP?Thanks

Select ALT SEL and V/S on the flight director. Then use the thumbwheel on the A/P control panel on the center console to increase or decrease the vertical speed. You can see the V/S on the upper screen on the main panel.
