I have been aware for a while that someone is uploading files to FlightSim.com that I have uploaded to Avsim only. Previously, these files were credited to me and I really had no problem with it. Today, while perusing FS.com's newest files, I came upon a file containing Southeast Airline flight plans. No author was credited. I checked and it was, indeed, my file. :-eek :-mad I have written their web master voicing a formal complaint. I'm just wondering if FS.com has stooped that low? Anyone else have this experience?

I've found my files there as well, although I don't prohibit the practice. I do ask that ppl seek permission before uploading, but none has ever been obtained for those files that have ended up at FS.com.I wouldn't point the finger at FS.com however. Anyone can grab a file and upload it. It could well be some overzealous member here who belongs to both groups and thinks he/she is doing the hobby a favor...-John

Hey Steve, sorry you didn't want your files on that website and they've appeared there(wasn't me). I agree, anyone could have done that, but I think that it's a little premature to suggest flightsim.com is the culprit. I know some are very vocal about not liking that site because of the login etc. But I think it is a very vaulable site to the flightsim community even if some people have a problem with them. I have a point here somewhere, let me find it... Oh yes!My point is that flightsim.com is a valuable member of the flightsim community and I personally would appreciate less attacks on them from the community in general. I know of no gross errors on their part and most of the slams agains them are just plain snobbery.(my humble opinion) If you don't like them(fs.com), that's fine, just don't run down a good group of folks that provide a FREE service.We should all try to be respectful of other members and sites of the community, especially if they offer their services for free. This is not a personal affront to you, Steve, but I thought this the best place to address this matter.Sincerely,Scott

Scott, I've had fs.com use my files without prior permission too that I had specifically noted were not meant for distribution anywhere BUT at Avsim.They were indeed a valuable contributor to the hobby and their forums are still good but IMO the site itself and the file library there are atm a joke compared to what they used to be (and a sad joke it is).Prior service prevented me from taking action at the time but that does not make it right for them to scrounge other sites for things they like and post them without even asking.Of course in this case where the copyright notices and credits were removed there is the possibility that they didn't do it themselves and they sure as heck had no way of asking, but that doesn't make it right (am I right to assume that Avsim does not allow any files without proper credentials to be uploaded at all?).

Okay guys, I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread. We don't need to post and critiques of fs.com, much like we wouldn't want to see critiques of AVSim on fs.com.IMHO your best route is to contact fs.com library managers about this issue.Thanks,
