January 18, 200422 yr I just took a pic of my XT running FS4, its definately not pretty :). That machine was also a mere 6 years old when FS4 was released, so it really dont play well either :-lol. Keep in mind that my old XT only has very primitive CGA 4 color graphics, the game looks totally different in VGA 16 color mode :-lol. Lets compare:FS4:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/58398.jpgFS9:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/58399.jpgThe AMD D8088 4.77MHz CPU had a major workload on FS4, about as graphical as that IBM XT can do :-lol. I took a similar pic with FS9 and as you see, we have REALLY came a long long way since then.
January 18, 200422 yr Author >the only flightsim where you can log real hours>is on full motion sims! >>at least i think so..There are PC sims that are FAA certified, but you can only log time if it's done with an instructor. There are also ground based, non motion sims that you can log time, but you still have to have an instructor sign your log book. Only 50 hours of sim time can count towards a rating. I loged my 50 hours on an AST300 sim working toward my comercial license. It was only $25/hour for the sim vs. $55 for a 152.
