Milan Lisner's F-18 a plea for designers, and Milan!

Featured Replies

I have watched and helped with the development of what I think is one of the finest military add-on aircraft for FS for quite some time.Milan lisner desigend this aircraft I believe with FSDS not version 2 etc. She worked beuatifully in 2002. He was striving for a bit too much perfection IMHO in that he has what i would consider a VERY finished aircraft here. It is superb, the model, the panel, the FDE and the textures push the very edge of what this add-on community is capable of. Personally I thought it was ready a while ago. Other testers agred but it is Milan's baby, so he has the hammer and I understand that. Trust me, its a FINISHED design but it does not function fully in 2004 due to the limitations of FSDS. I am asking that everyone try to go and convince Milan to release it for 2002, and allow further development in FSDS2 to make it functional in 2004. It works in 2004 but the animations do not, gear works and is displayed, but flaps, canopy, and nozzles do not. I would go as far as saying I would pay almost whatever Milan wants (within reason of course) to get this worked out for 2004. I flew F-18's in the US Navy and this model is THAT GOOD! I really want it for this sim. I ask that everyone visit the MLK airbase, many may already be familiar with it. It can be found at this link http://www.mlk-airbase.wz.cz/main.htm Find Milan's contact and get him to release this puppy! Also let him know how great his work is, he is truly an exceptional designer and has done a lot for this hobby. I think he may be moving away from all this FS stuff as he has started a family and with the birth of his new baby (not so new now!) He may be headed away from all this. Please try to convince him to at least release this as a final project, what a way to go out. Ok I have said my piece, its TRULY THAT GOOD A MODEL to warrant this. I felt it was worth the effort to help get it out and create some interest. I would ask the moderators to please allow one screenshot here, Ill post some others in the ss forum to show this great aircraft, thx. I had some better textures but lost them with my HD reinstall a while back, these are from Kari Vartinen who still has this particular texture for a finn Hornet and its all i have right now.http://www.x-plane.org/users/hornit/18.jpgHornit

I agree with you Jim, although Milan is going to kill you from all the emails he's about to get! LOL I have followed this project and seen other postings from you and this does look sweet!Personally I would prefer he finish the Mi-24 Hind that he has, looks amazing (and finished)!!http://airspace.uhk.cz/mlk/msfs/mi24/I am sure we all understand that family comes first, but it does seem like such a waste!Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://mysite.verizon.net/res052cd/mybannercva1.jpgCalVirAir International VACougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviation[link:www.cgrmthelos.com]Cougar Mountain Helicopters

"I agree with you Jim, although Milan is going to kill you from all the emails he's about to get! Sweet is not the word for this project, its is nothing short of Stellar!Hornit

Hi there,There is a new F18 at flightsim.com. Is this the same model with the one you are refering to?Regards, japangg

...There is a new F18 at flightsim.com. Is this the same model with the one you are refering to?...No way. The one over at Flightsim is not really viable in this day of complexity and detail. I installed it, but two seconds on the visual model alone was enough for me to grab the eraser.Shame really, I'm looking for a good F-18 to match up with all my other quality birds.-------------------Racartronit means something, but I just can't remember what

I believe the model over at simviation and flightsim is nothing more than Kari Vartinen's AI model made flyable. Its actually a pretty good model but lacks the detail of this one obviously. It flies pretty good too and has a nice cockpit but it is just not in the same league. No disrespect to Kari at all, he is a GREAT modeler to be sure! I cant model my way out of a paper bag! Kari is involved with this model also so im sure he would agree.hornit

I see. Thanks for the info.japangg

I just tried this "other" F18 and its realy a nice package, just lacking in the model detail department. The shape is right on, it just doesnt have the landing gear detail that Milans does. Hornit

Jim, I've tried to email Milan a few times. He actually posted Aggressor skins he had done on Simviation back in the summer and said it would be out shortly.Never did get a reply from him... Wish he would pass it on to someone that can finish it for him.Have you seen that Dean Riemer has his site back up and working on a Super Hornet. Plus there is this group as well from Daisuke Yamamoto.http://www.flightsim.com/notams03/horn1228/nks.jpghttp://www.flightsim.com/notams03/horn1228/f-18.jpg

I saw that Dean is back at it, thats great news and his A/B models look really good too. I offered to help him also, no reply yet. I don't quite understand why guys dont go for the help, its not like I can do much other than validate FDE's or help with textures and be a tester. Especially when I actually flew the things! I guess they want to control the project and call it thier own, I understand that. Anyway, the future is looking up for this aircraft and flightsim. The model here actually looks really good.Hornit

Hi Hornit... Greeting from a former Jarhead stationed at Kaneohe Bay MCAS back in 1990-91...I sat many a day waiting to cross the runway watching those f18's taxi by....without a doubt the most beautiful bird in the air today IMHO. I too would love to see a high quality F18 model released, and would probably pay for it on top of that!! Take care, and keep the dirty side down...Tony P
