September 21, 201114 yr How can I add fuel tanks and increase the Max weight to aircraft? there is a blackhawk UH 60 that I have, the models have external fuel tanks, but when I go to the options to add fuel to them the only tank that shows is the main tank. Also I would like to change the aircraft weight to a more realistic 23,500 lbs max weight. the current setup that is modeled, has very little power, and will not even lift off the ground with 6 ppl and full fuel. I dont know how the designers made such a beautiful blackhawk, but fail to model it realisticly. I was flying from bagdad to Osama's hideout, and I made it there with 2% fuel remaining, and a load of 2 pilots and 4 pass, and full fuel... Very Unrealistic. I should have been able to make it there and back, with 10 passengers. Without even needing external tanks.
September 22, 201114 yr Michael, In the folder that has your helo (believe it should be in \SimObjects\Rotorcraft\), there's a file named aircraft.cfg. Make a copy of that file. Open the original with any text editor, and look for a line that reads max_gross_weight =. Changing the value on that line would increase the max gross weight. Likewise, looks for a section named [fuel] and below it there should be a list of the fuel tanks, one per line, perhaps with names such as Center1 = -1.59, 0.0, -0.95, 217, 3.0, where the numbers mean Longitudinal (feet), Lateral (feet), Vertical (feet), Usable(gallons), Unusable (gallons). Believe that you could add more fuel tanks by adding another line with a different name for each tank, and the values per your preferences. All of this could change the aircraft flying dynamics, so be careful.
