Is this common? (fps)

Featured Replies

Hey all, I've been building my sim up and now have.. FSX (+SP2)REXGEX europeUTX europeWorld of AI (with all packages installed)Shade (incredible program, so cheap yet adds SO much to the visuals, completely recommend this!) PMDG 737NGXCarenado C337H And as of today, the Aerosoft Heathrow Xtreme scenery. Anyway, with a lot of tweaking the sim looks beautiful, however when I approach this new heathrow, my FPS drops to 16-18 when I'm flying the PMDG, even with traffic at 25% and airport vehicle objects at minimal. is this quite normal? I usually get about 40fps in the PMDG and about 60 in the C337H with specs as follows.. Core i5 760 OC'd (but only to 3.6ghz)4gbDDR 3 ram @ 1333mhzGTX 460 SE 1gb Well maintained machine with minimal software running.. Anyway, is this FPS normal in this jet with this scenery?

It's common to see fps in the teens, especially in big cities, with utx, at night, and with poor weather. If you add a complex plane, it will cripple the system. The only solution is to reduce the settings. Disable car traffic, lower the water, AG etc.

Thanks for your response - it was indeed at night, with weather, over London approaching Heathrow (aerosoft) with traffic queuing up. I believe I'm stuck in call of duty mode in which anythig below 50fps is unacceptable! I find it hard to accept that 20fps is my lot at times! :)

Yup I would consider that normal on my machine too.
