Hello, What is the best OS for FSX??????I currently have Windows XP HE SP3 32bit and it runs great, frames slider to unlimited, 45-55fps with no stutters, but when I tried Windows 7 HP 32bit, The frames are around 60fps but often dip to 30, hence; STUTTERING!!! I would much rather prefer Windows 7 because it is the newest, but these stutters are really annoying. I CANT lock frame rates because in complex aircraft like PMDG MD-11 they will go down to 8fps, but when i set it to unlimited it hangs around 50 with occasional dips to 30. How can i fix this?? I already tried disabling Aero Theme, and setting Windows for maximal performance, but that doesnt help....... Will installing SP1 for Windows 7 help???? Stuttering. A common subject here at AVSIM. First of all, you have a 32 bit system and 32 bit systems have issues with memory management. So, for XP OS's, the 3GB switch was invented so that more than 2 GB of memory can be seen. For Windows 7, 32 bit users, there's another switch. You should go to the following link for details on incorporating these switches in your respective systems - http://www.simforums.com/Forums/topic29041.html . The author (Nick N) has other suggestions for setting up FSX and tuning it including methods to reduce or eliminate stuttering. There's a section for 32 bit users and one for 64 bit users. I do not understand why you are not having problems with your XP system though as that system was horrible (for me) running FSX. Windows 7 does much better handling memory. It does incorporate more security to save you and me from evil people who send viruses, etc., and that might be what's causing you some problems. In Windows 7, you should disable User Access Controls (UAC) and any anti-virus program before installing FSX. Once installed, I would keep UAC disabled. Most Windows 7 DVD's include the 64 bit version of Windows and you should install that if you have it as 64 bit versions handle memory much better.
