  1. Hi all,I have uninstalled FSX, but forgot to uninstall all of the addons first. I know its stupid, but @#$% happens... SO I want to reinstall FSX and did. But I double clicked the .exe file to reinstall the NGX, it said "setup is starting" but then it says I have a previous version installed which I need to uninstall.. SO i go to Add or remove Programs and hit uninstall PMDG 8900 or whatever, but then more @#$% happens and it tells me that Setup.exe has stopped working.Oh no.What can I do? the NGX files got sent to hell when I uninstalled FSX. There is no trace of any NGX installation on my hard drive.Help would be appreciated! Thanks,BK
  2. I would set it to balanced, if you use your computer for other stuff as well. If it is dedicated to FS, there is no problem setting it to performance. If you have a Desktop PC and not a Laptop, set it to Performance because you dont have any "Battery Life". It will not shorten the processor chip's life if you have a decent cooling system. What might also help to ease the CPU's load is to turn off all Windows Visual Effects. This is a good trade of for a 15% performance boost. (Source: Microsoft)To adjust all visual effects for best performance: Open Performance Information and Tools by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type Performance Information and Tools, and then, in the list of results, click Performance Information and Tools. Click Adjust visual effects. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Click the Visual Effects tab, click Adjust for best performance, and then click OK. To revert back, click Let Windows choose what's best for my computer, and then click OK. Let me know if this works! Thanks, BK
  3. i think probable an i7 @ 3ghz would seriously give you a perf boost
  4. Hmm... I would appreciate it if someone offered some suggestions on how to solve Stutterings.. :/
  5. Hello, What is the best OS for FSX??????I currently have Windows XP HE SP3 32bit and it runs great, frames slider to unlimited, 45-55fps with no stutters, but when I tried Windows 7 HP 32bit, The frames are around 60fps but often dip to 30, hence; STUTTERING!!! I would much rather prefer Windows 7 because it is the newest, but these stutters are really annoying. I CANT lock frame rates because in complex aircraft like PMDG MD-11 they will go down to 8fps, but when i set it to unlimited it hangs around 50 with occasional dips to 30. How can i fix this?? I already tried disabling Aero Theme, and setting Windows for maximal performance, but that doesnt help....... Will installing SP1 for Windows 7 help???? I really want this to work, im a little sick of XP. Thanks, and specs are in signature below....... BKa.k.a. Wybe Witteveen
  6. And indeed I did! ;) PMDG reccomended I installed Windows 7... So I thought 'oh well' since FSX is the only reason i had Windows on my Mac. I installed Windows 7 and ALL MY PROBLEMS WERE GONE!! :D Thanks PMDG, although for some people a complete OS reinstall might be a little drastic...
  7. Nope that doesnt do the trick... do you have any other suggestions?
  8. That is the only thing I haven't tried yet, I will try it asap
  9. Yes i did i have also reinstalled it several times.
  10. Just to let you know, the plane works perfectly, its only this gauge issue.... :( :( :(
  11. Ok so here's what i did (it still doesnt work): I went to C:\WINDOWS\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\FontsRight clicked on all 7 of the NGX fonts, none had the option of 'Install'.SO I went to Control Panel > Classic View and then to 'Fonts'Selected install new fontNavigated to C:\WINDOWS\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\FontsInstalled NGX fontsRebooted...AND VOILA it still doesnt work...Below is an image further describing the problem.Maybe its a gauge problem? Am i missing a Gauge?Perhaps somebody could upload their gauges and see if they solve the prob?
  12. Yes im on SP3, and there ARE 7 font files in the FS font folder. Is anyone else running the NGX under XP that can confirm it even works? (in XP)
  13. Ok, but how can i fix this? Is there a specific font file that i need to download?
  14. Hey everyone,I have (another) problem with my pmdg ngx. I had to install Windows XP in place of 7 because of issues, but now whenever I load the plane, everything works, including the gauges, but the text on the gauges is missing. Eg no speed numbers, no 'ATT' when irs isn't aligned, and no heading numbers or any kind of text on the ND. The same for all the other gauges... I think it might be a font problem/missing.Any suggestions?
  15. I wipe my Windows 7 partition and start from scratch each month, so far I have installed the MD-11 8 times with no problems... I have the boxed edition.
  16. Hi everybody! This is my first post, so take it easy please... I recently bought the NGX and I am pleased to say that it is simply mind blowing!!! Every single switch and knob can be pressed and turned, the paint in the cockpit has been chipped off and dust covers the FMC, and then there's that sound.... Anyway enough stating the obvious, how do I turn on the HUD? I click it, but it just comes down, but the fighter-jet like green diagrams don't appear?.. What am I doing wrong? I certainly hope it's not an issue with the airplane...
