Light Circuits and Night Lighting Behaviour

Featured Replies

Hi everybody, I've been fiddling around with FS9 the last few days working on some repaints and noticed that apparently nav lights and panel/instrument lights cannot be controlled separately. Whenever I switch on the nav/position lights, the panel lights come on as well. The problem there is that during taxy and takeoff, I would like to switch on the panel lights so as to turn off the external window lights (_L textures with black alpha). In some aircraft switching on ANY external lights automatically switches on the panel lights as well. Any ideas or thoughts? Thanks, Stefan

They can be controlled separately. If you have the registered version of FSUIPC you can use it to set up any unused key combination to control any lighting circuit. If you have the free version of FSUIPC then you have a couple documents in your ...\FS9\Modules folder that will help you set up what you want to do by editing the FS9.cfg. There are many key events available to us that are not listed in the in-sim keyboard assignment GUI. The are listed in List of FS2004 controls.pdf. The keyboard codes are listed in FSUIPC for Advanced Users.pdf regards,Joe

Thanks Joe, just as I thought. In that case PMDG messed around with the defaults. The bottom line is that with the 737, panel lights are always on at night as soon as any other lights on the aircraft are turned on. The cockpit switch works in the internal view, controlling panel lights and jumps back to the on position in external view (spot or tower). With the night textures being displayed accordingly, the windows (based on the panel lights status) are always illuminated. Sucks.
