September 26, 201114 yr Hello, when I went to turn the computer to sleep today and it started the process then the screen went blank. I left it there for 5 minutes and it was still not sleeping, all the fans were going. So i held the power button and had to do a system boot restore thing. I am just wondering if this is like a one off or something to worry about. Thanks, Andrew Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. September 26, 201114 yr Two things. 1) Under power options click the Change plan settings option beside your current "Preferred plan". Click Change advanced power settings. Under the "sleep" option, what do you have? 2) I never use the sleep option, it's disabled. I either shut the PC down or leave it running. Shut downs perform certain clean up task that sleep mode (which is just a power saving mode) does not. #2 is just my two cents. You won't notice any measurable difference by taking that advice, but I like a clean, pristine PC. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules

September 26, 201114 yr Hmmm. If it's an isolated case, that's strange. If you are still having problems with sleep mode, try this: Go into BIOS and check your suspend mode settings. It should be set to "S3". I'm not sure where to find these settings under your BIOS, but the key words are ACPI and suspend mode. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
September 26, 201114 yr Why not go straight for S4 - Hibernation , since the only difference WRT S3 - Standby seems to be saving RAM to the HDD? Or does S3 maintain USB devices powered on? Cheers, - jahman.

Cheers, - jahman. Well, S4 takes longer to power up. Plus I'd rather have a relatively "cleaner" sleep rather than hibernate, without writing all of that junk to the HDD every time. Basically the only thing really powered with S3 is RAM anyway. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
September 26, 201114 yr Author Whenever i start it up after a hibernate it goes to a flashing line and wont come back to life. I have to go through a series of reboots to get it to start into windows. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. September 26, 201114 yr My computer wouldn't sleep (went to off instead) until I replaced my power supply.
September 26, 201114 yr Author I dont think the HX750 is failing. Could be a bad one but Seasonic are known for making good reliable PSU's. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern

I think the problem lies in some power saving options in your BIOS. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
