January 19, 200422 yr I question the statement about FAT32 having anything to do with network domains. That is the function of the operating system type.At work I have a W98SE system on FAT32 nicely connecting to WIN2K servers including Exchange. It does require a software driver. The 32 GB limitation may be with regard to primary partitions only, not extended partitions. HDs must be installed with LBA conversion in the BIOS or HD electronics.I was under the impression that file recovery utilities work better with FAT32 than NTFS, but that may have changed by now. I also thought that XP offers HPFS, or am I confused.
January 19, 200422 yr Hi LucaWell, sorry and glad to hear. Glad to hear your FlyTendo is technically under control . Actually, I don't live with my girlfriend either and have to admit certain advantages. Besides, mine is a daughter of a flight instructor and is quite allergic to anything aviation related... You know, if you HAVE to hang out at airports all the time... And I'll remember le calze, in case I ever run into heat problems in Italy... I went back to win98se for some FS9 testing and have stuck to it since (still a bare install). I could expand, but I would prefer to do so via email for now. Just let me know if you're interested and I'll PM you for evaluation. If you'ld like to test and try a simular approach, you're more than welcome. Simply haven't got around to test it back in i.e. win2000 (and/or NTFS/FAT) yet. To leave things clear, it is my goal, to eventually use a NTFS-OS with FS9. Finally, since my FlyTendo is simular 'hp' to your's, here's another few things I did and which have helped me find, something like a FS9-sweetspot (meaning = hardly any stuts): AI max 59%, default.xml renamed, Terrain_Use_Vector_Objects=0 and autogen set to none or scarse, depending on the area of flight. Ciao amici. Oh yeah, do you also have 2 HDs? Regards Jaap
January 19, 200422 yr Another advantage of using NTFS is that you can compress directories/files.Compressing the textures in FS9 has been reported to have a performance impact. There should be some posts in the Tips & Tricks sub forum about this. I am not necessarily saying that this is 100% true in all cases, but maybe something to look at.Personally I prefer NTFS. I run XP Pro.
