Can anybody offer advice for my traffic problems?

Featured Replies

Hey all, I just purchased My Traffic 2010 which is very impressive, however my issue is that it's bringing my aerosoft Heathrow XTrem to a crawl. I'm talking 12fps in places. With world of AI I'd get about 20 fps. Now, This program creates WAY more traffic, however even at 2% it is too much. Could somebody tell me if this is possible... I'd like to significantly reduce the amount of traffic at heathrow, whilst keeping it up everywhere else. At Bristol, I get 30fps @ 40% traffic, at Heathrow, I get 12fps. Is there a way to make it so that The rest of the world has the same amount of traffic, but that it's reduced around huge airports? If this is possible, I will begin working it out...I have had a look in the manual but couldn't find much on it. Thanks :)

What is your computer spec matey? Do you have any scenery installed for EGLL? Don't forget, Bristol may have 5-10 plane on the apron at any given time, Heathrow will have 300+... Every polygon counts, not least the fact London is only so many miles away so all the buildings/autogen there won't help. HTH

Hi mate. thanks for the reply :) I've got a core i5 760 @ 3.5ghz, 4db ddr3 ram @ 1333mhz and a gtx 460 SE 1gb. Basically, everywhere is great except for heathrow. I wish there was a way I could turn down traffic for their only, or disable a load of the games.......I may have to uninstall the aerosoft airport because to me, 10fps feels completely unenjoyable - the defaults aren't too bad anyway. Oh also, sorry yeah, I've got megaair port heathrow X by aerosoft, but that is all! This is using the PMDG 737NGX. I understand it's a huge resource hog, ideally it'd be perfect if there was a way to disable a load of traffic at heathrow...

I have a system far below yours and I fly into LHR with UK2000 andmy LDS767 using MTX also and I get 20fps but I have my traffic settings in FSX at 30%. At busy airports like Heathrow, Chicago or JFK setting higher than 30% just produces far too much AI Traffic and I get stutters. Also set your density at high not very high and see if that improves your performance. I also recommend using http://forum.avsim.net/topic/318918-automated-tweaking-and-tuning-tool-for-fsx/ tool. Worked wonders for me. Bob

Hey guys,Thanks so much for your advice :) My pc is well tuned I think, I've followed Nicks guide and run the auto tuner etc. I uninstalled heathrow and used the default airport. This has enabled me to turn on the UTX traffic and have 30% air traffic rather than 10%, and I have 25fps rather than 12....The Aerosoft airport is beautiful but it's a bit too much for my rig, I prefer higher FPS and traffic over the airport. (though for me extra airliners is great eye candy) With that in mind, I now have an Aerosoft Heathrow X going if anybody wants my licence..I presume it's legal to give it away? Shame to waste the money so would like it to go to someone that'll get a lot of use out of it :) Luke

Check within the MyTraffic Communicator that the option for jetways connecting to AI aircraft is not active. You can imagine that at a small airport where there are hardly any AI or jetways FPS will not be low, but at a big airport like EGLL, with AI asking for jetways all over the place to connect to them, FPS will take a big hit.

I would imagine as well, that the physical elements being displayed on screen i.e. the terminal buildings, trees, houses, AI traffic, are not the only issues. Stuttering could be caused by a badly partioned HDD? If the hard drive has for e.g. an aircraft tail livery in 1 part of the HDD, and the wing texture is somewhere else, this can all take its toll if there are so many textures to load. For me, every time a new AI, air traffic control message was about to be displayed on screen, telling (Air France flight 143 to taxi to RWY 9L) that would cause a stutter on screen. As said above, LHW has lots of these messages every second. HTH
