HGS showing runway limits on approach

Featured Replies

Hi allDespite lots of landings at several big airports in europe , correct sutup of runway ils freq ,runway lengh and elevation and glideslope angle...most of the times never see depicted runway limits over the HGS as published. I set all parameters on the central pedestal , elevation, lengh, glideslope angle and A III arm mode...using Fail Operational ...What's wrong ?See the final part of this video to understand what i mean...here you can see the runway limits showing at minimums over the HGS...how can i see all the time this nice feature while landing ?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X6ycC9zoiM&feature=youtube_gdata_playerSomeone know what is correct to do to show all the time the runway in hud ?Thank you in advice.Paolo Bozzetti

All I see in the video is the runway edgelines correctly appear at 300R then retract at 60R - just as per the manual. So what exactly is your problem? The runway in fact did show up correctly, no? As long as you set up everything properly (frequencies tuned, course set, EL and LN set on HCP...) and AIII is your active mode, you're all set. And that's exactly what I see in the video. sig.gif

That is not mine video , i find it as an example...My problem is that i cannot see the runway edgelines as seen in the video...despite parameters setup correctly...I dont know why but only one time i saw these famouse runway edgelines depicted in hud...is it only my problem ? Or is it a known issue to be solved early by PMDG ?

I think he refers to lines appear above 300 ft. To my knowledge, this only happens below 300 ft. Am I wrong?

...yes i mean exactly those lines appearing at 300 ft agl showing runway lateral limits ...I cannot show these everytime in HGS..

I thought it was yours, that's why I was wondering. Try to set ILS freq to both units, CRS to both sides. Set up EL and LN and confirm by pressing ENT ('>' must not show anymore and display should go back to EL). Set AIII as your active HUGS mode.

No you're not. As I said above, they come at 300 and go at 60. sig.gif

Do you get normal ILS indications on PFD/ND? Do you positively identify the ILS? Tell me an airport and runway and I'll check it out. sig.gif

Thnks first..I saw only one time all the visual cues landing in LIPZ Venice airport runway 04R..Exactly at 300 agl appeared the left and right visual lines duplicating runway limits...Ils identified at 109.95 course 40 deg on both...

Are you using an add-on scenery? Because if not, then no way, sorry you can never have identified the ILS on 109.95. The FMC database stores the ILS04R as 109.95 whereas the FSX stock scenery frequency is 110.30. Other than that, I have zero problems getting the runway edgelines to display there. Elevation set to 7, length to 10827. ILS frequency 110.30, courses to 040, HUGS mode AIII. Think that's about it. Works perfectly. Not sure what might be going wrong there. Any other anomalies with the HUGS? sig.gif

..scuse me ! I omitted to say i use Venice X addon airport.. So ILS Freq is 109.95 ...I tryed one more time taking off follow CHI SID and imediately landing ...it was all checked and setup but on final landing run at about 3-4 miles out the rnwy thershold the HGS showed no AIII...that's new to me...But at the same time i was near to solve the problem...Anyway i will try more touch and go to find a solution...as soon i solve it i will tell you.Thk very much for support till here !
