September 30, 201114 yr Author If you have realistic autopilot selected in the CDU ( which is good)you need to make sure that the plane is trimmed and that you are following the FD's properly. With both FDs on, I see no guiding axes. what do you mean not helping, what more do you needI mean It still will not engage. September 30, 201114 yr have you tried to turn off realistic autopilot in the CDU to see if it works then just for troubleshooting It definitely sounds like that's the problem. You have to be properly trimmed for it to engage with the realistic autopilot engage selected. September 30, 201114 yr Author That is because you have not selected a pitch and roll mode. Do you know how to takeoff this plane ??How do I do that? Captain Morgan Wiley Delta Virtual Airlines Delta Boeing 737-800 Senior Executive KDTW Hub Manager Real World Student Pilot Cessna 152 Pilot
September 30, 201114 yr Author I have done many flights with this airplane, all of a sudden the main AP wont engage like normally. Captain Morgan Wiley Delta Virtual Airlines Delta Boeing 737-800 Senior Executive KDTW Hub Manager Real World Student Pilot Cessna 152 Pilot
September 30, 201114 yr I have done many flights with this airplane, all of a sudden the main AP wont engage like normally. Yes, chances are it is usually trimmed correctly. I sometimes have issues with it and other times it is already in the correct configuration. September 30, 201114 yr Are you using TO/GA for takeoff ?Have you set an altitude to climb to ?Are your flaps at 5 ? He said he has successfully engaged the autopilot on previous flights. That leads me to believe that he has all of those settings already configured. It looks like you either need to trim the plane until it can engage the autopilot, or disable the realistic autopilot feature. October 1, 201114 yr Successfully engaging the A/P and Knowing how to successfully engage the A/P are 2 very different things. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the autopilot on the NGX.But it will not engage untill you know how it works properly. Yes there is nothing wrong with the autopilot. I am assuming he has not changed the way he has engaged the autopilot in previous flights. October 1, 201114 yr I think the OP needs to do the tutorial flight a few (more) times !! I am saying that judging by his posts. Frederic Steiner.
October 1, 201114 yr Author Yes there is nothing wrong with the autopilot. I am assuming he has not changed the way he has engaged the autopilot in previous flights.I know how to engage the autopilot at 400 feet AGL. The flight director exes should have showed up when I pressed TOGA, but they disappeared. I never said anything was wrong with the NGX, I just couldn't figure it out. The one thing I did differently was to decide to hand fly it for a while before engaging the AP. I know for next time.
