ASE in network not working after PC upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi everybody, Last week I upgarded my server to the latestes hardware.Windows 7 Ultimate 64 , FSX and all addons I had installed before I reinstalled. On my laptop I already had ASE and was using it in my network. The problem is that I canot get ASE to work over the network as before. After the reinstall of FSX I also reinstalled the SDK : FSDX SDk, Sp1a, SDK Acc. What I did : Client :

  1. Changed the ip4 adress in Simconnect.cfg ( already in Documents ) to the new adres of the new server
  2. Set the new paths for ASE : Main FSX folder and AppDataRoaming Microsoft FSX folder . I was not asked for the path to Flight Simulator X files, nor does it exists in the registry. Before it worked without that path.

Server :

  1. Shared the3 folders with Everybody for read/write : main FSX folder, AppDataRoaming Microsoft FSX folder, Flight Simulator X files folder
  2. Put Simconnect into the AppDataRoaming Microsoft FSX folder and set the servers ip4 adres, port 500 and scope variable to global
  3. Reinstalled FSUIPC and WideFs
  4. Put SimConnct.ini in the Flight Simulator X files folder

I can get into all shared folders. To be sure I turned the firewall off on both pc's. Is there something that I forgot here ?Is the register path on the client pc for FSXMy Docs really needed, as I don't have it and ASE ever asked for that path ? When running the AI Traffic program on the server I get the "Connected to Flight Simulator " message.I even copied it to the client and when running then the screen show no messages and disappears after 10 seconds. The clients ASE_SimConnect.log text shows :9:37:14:0426 - Pre Connect FS_Connected = False9:37:14:0441 - FSX Connect Pre Attempt: Instantiated = False / mConnected = False9:37:14:0766 - Sim general message:Sim Msg: fsx_simconnect is NOTHING ...9:37:36:0031 - Sim general message:Sim Msg: Failed to connect - Please ensure FS is running: Fout HRESULT E_FAIL is geretourneerd voor een aanroep van een COM-onderdeel.9:37:36:0031 - FSX Connect Post Attempt: Instantiated = True / mConnected = False9:37:36:0031 - FSX Connection Attempted9:37:36:0031 - Post Connect FS_Connected = False9:37:36:0234 - Pre Connect FS_Connected = False9:37:36:0250 - FSX Connect Pre Attempt: Instantiated = True / mConnected = False9:37:36:0250 - Sim general message:Sim Msg: fsx_simconnect is NOTHING ...9:37:57:0388 - Sim general message:Sim Msg: Failed to connect - Please ensure FS is running: Fout HRESULT E_FAIL is geretourneerd voor een aanroep van een COM-onderdeel.9:37:57:0388 - FSX Connect Post Attempt: Instantiated = True / mConnected = False It's very clear that there is no connection Reinstalling the SDK and reinstalling ASE did solve it. Help is appriciated.

Update ( after 2 days struggling.....AHHHHH ) : Finally I was able to solve it. In the copied simconnect.xml file from the SDK , by default it says : <SimConnect.Comm><Disabled>True</Disabled> However it needs to be set to FALSE. In the ASE manual there is nothing mentioned about this.By accident I found out when reading the Simconnect files in the ASE Simconnect folder..... Perhaps an idea to put it in the manual. Finally flying again...Party.gif

Glad you resolved the problem Gerard. I guess the "<Disabled>True</Disabled>" statement wasn't considered as the default SimConnect.xml file dated 22/08/2007 from my accel SDK is already set at False.
