January 19, 200422 yr I see from the other thread that plenty of users are more than happy with Matt's charts, so there must be something wrong with my systems. If I try to view in my usual viewer, Irfanview, it reports that it cannot allocate memory. If I try to view within a normal IE window, I can watch parts of the chart being processed, built up and displayed, but on completion the window goes blank. Same on both computers - an operating system or a memory problem?Computer 1: Win98SE, 256MB RAMComputer 2: Win98SE, 512MB RAM--Bryn
January 19, 200422 yr Author I have all of the original .tif files, but I downloaded on of Matt's files to see. I use Irfanview also, and I had no trouble viewing it. The one I downloaded was 11MB, but the viewer has to uncompress it to view it, and the info window shows it taking up 282MB of memory. You may be running out of mem and or virtual mem, depending on how much stuff you already have loaded. Try increasing your virtual memory size and see if it helps.
January 19, 200422 yr Thanks Jim.I tried taking control of Virtual Memory myself, but when I reboot I find Windows has taken control itself again. Any ideas?--Bryn
January 20, 200422 yr Author I don't remember how it was done on Win98, but in XP after you change the size you have to hit the set button. If you hit OK before hitting set, it doesn't apply the settings.
