October 3, 201114 yr I know this has been raised before, but I've been unclear as to what I am doing wrong, so apologies if this has been answered and my search skills are at fault! I have never been able to get the PMDG and ASE to work properly in FS9.1. I regularly get disconnecting autopilot functions, and S-turn issues. I also have ASA and never get these issues. Windows XP, SP3FS9.1ASA build 647FSUIPC registered version.FSPassengersFSCaptainPMDG 747-400, latest updates. The issues are present in all parts of the world, although it seems to happen more regulalry over the large expanses of open ocean. Thank you very much for your help, - daniel
October 3, 201114 yr Commercial Member Hello, The S-Turn issue with certain aircraft using DWC mode within ASE is well documented. Please check the README.rtf file in the ASE installation folder for information on this, but essentially you should disable or minimize turbulence affects on these sensitive aircraft to prevent problems related to ASE "changing" the wind to the correct values (fighting FSX's invalid values). Please let us know if you continue having trouble after trying these suggestions. Thanks! Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
October 3, 201114 yr Author Okay, thanks for this! Although I'm using FS9.1, not FSX. Do I edit similar values in the FS9.cfg? - daniel
October 3, 201114 yr Commercial Member Hi Daniel, Sorry, I assumed FSX when you said S-Turns, as all the information we have on file for this pertains to FSX/ASE/DWC and such aircraft. I am not familiar with this aircraft in FS9 and related issues, but indeed there may be something with turbulence. AFAIK such aircraft are very sensitive to turbulence and S-turns, regardless of the version of FS, indicate turbulence being a potential cause. So I would recommend trying those recommendations similarly in FS9 especially where FSUIPC is concerned. Also I do believe these s-turn issues have been discussed in depth in the PMDG forum also here on AVSIM, so it may be worth taking a look over there too for additional help. Let me know how application of the recommendations helps? Also, a quick reminder, please sign all posts in this forum with your full name. Thanks! Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
October 24, 201114 yr Author Hi,Seems all weather smoothing must be turned off, both in ASE and FSUIPC. Turbulence does not seem to turn the A/P off on it's own. Tested 10-15 flights so far.- Daniel Baker
November 11, 201114 yr Author Nah, even with it all turned off it still disconnects the autopilot. After checking in the PMDG forum it seems like no one can fix it. Bottom line - ASE and PMDG do not get along. (ASA 6.5 was fine)- daniel baker
November 11, 201114 yr Commercial Member Hello again,We would recommend opening up a support ticket with our support department at support.hifitechinc.com and include as much information as you can so we can investigate. There are no significant changes to wx depiction in ASA vs. ASE for FS9 mode - only some general fixes and improvements. The methods for controlling wind remain the same. Please also elaborate on autopilot disconnects.. what is prompting the autopilot to disconnect? Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
November 11, 201114 yr Author Okay, I will do this. One thing I just noticed was my FSUIPC.ini file has a lot of duplicate entries. Things like:WindTurbulence=NoWindTurbulence=YesCloudIcing=NoCloudingIcing=YesSome of these are repeated four or five times. Surely this must have something to do with it? I imagine I only want one entry per option, don't I? - daniel baker
November 12, 201114 yr Commercial Member Yes who knows what the options are being set as with duplicate entries. An FSUIPC reinstall may be in order. Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
November 27, 201114 yr Author Hi again,Yeah, even with these issues fixed, I still have autopilot disconnects. Actually, what seems to happen is I get an autothrottle disconnect, and have to re-engage the autothrottle. It often (but not always) corresponds to huge altitudes shofts while at cruise. I'll be flying along at 39000 ft, and suddenly the altimeter shows 37800 feet. The aircraft gives an alarm and struggles up to altitude and disconnects the autothrottle.Sometimes I just heard an alarm, see the engines almost flameout, the autothrottle disconnects and comes back to whatever RPM percent I happened to have my throttle unit set at.It also always disconnects whenever I go into the menu bar and chose the FSUIPC options tab. Even if I change nothing, the autothrottle disconnects.- daniel
