January 20, 200422 yr No, im not some stupid noob who didnt read the FAQ and am asking how to get them to appear.I want to know if there is any way possible to get a Radeon 7000 64mb with latest Catalyst drivers to show the reflections. I ask because I dont feel like going out and spending 300 and some dollars just to get one more effect out of a game.Any possible ideas or ways?
January 20, 200422 yr Well, it's like this. Make sure you have DirectX 8.1 installed. Make sure you have a good install of latest Cats that support your card. Run FS2004, and set the sliders to show water at high detail. If they reflect, yer in like flint. If they don't yer SOL!Cheers Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. January 20, 200422 yr I don't think it's possible at all with a Radeon 7000. The actual videocard hardware does not support the effects that FS uses to display reflections. You don't need to spend $300, though. Any card with full support for DirectX 8 in hardware (pixel shaders+EMBM) should work. This means Geforce3 (I'm not 100% sure about this one, since it's DirectX 8.0, not 8.1 but I assume it'd work), Geforce4 Ti (but not Geforce4 MX!), Radeon 8500 and up. You can get a low-end DirectX 8 capable card for $100 or so and it should actually be faster than your current card. But I wouldn't buy a new card just for the water reflections. Many users actually prefer the darker look of the water without the reflection effects. -
January 22, 200422 yr Well, I have yet to see reflections on 9600 PRO, running 3.10 Cat drivers. Just won
