Sunset faaaaar to early

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,I have the problem that the sunset in FSX is far too early. Here in germany the sunset is at 18:59 lcl, but in the sim it's about an hour earlier already. Does someone know how I can change this and make it work propably?Thank you for your helpEmi

Is yiur FSX date set correctly? Also I assume you are at ground level... Cheers, - jahman.

Yes my date is set correctly (I always press the reset button in the time selection menu) and I'm on the ground.

Depends where in Germany you are as well....sunrise/sunset difference between Berlin and Cologne is 27minutes.

Emi, I have noticed this also and for a long time have been playing around with some figures. In your FSX Cfg file, under Graphics, you should see the following lines (these values are default in mine): Day_Threshold=32768 Night_Threshold=4096. The following comment is offered by the (un-named) writer: Referring to the above values: "(This entry) allows the user to adjust the start/end of dusk and dawn textures. These represent the amount of 'ambient' light at the ends of the day/night blend threshold. Zero is perfect dark, 65535 is full day sun at noon in the summer. Acceptable entries are 0-65535. The values in the examples above are the default." You could try and experiment with those values and see if there is any difference to the amount of light or darkness you require. Naturally, with the Cfg file, FSX has to be re-started each time you set new values to see any change. In hindsight, I had limited success with this, though I did notice some differences, therefore have gone back to my default values. What I do now, is to look out of the window and see the position of the sun and amount of light available, and adjust my time or season in FSX accordingly. Not a professional way of doing it, but it suffices. Chris David
