Descnt Angle

Recommended Posts

Hi, I recently purchased Aivlasoft's EFB and when creating a new aircraft file it asks for "Descent angle above 10,000 feet (degrees)" and "Descent angle below 10,000 feet (degrees)". I am wondering what values to enter here for the NGX? Thanks, Will Wilson

Whatever rate you want to descend at, although some of that might depend upon the terrain you are passing over, cruise level, speed and indeed the weather. The average descent rate for an airliner is about 2,000 to 2,500 FPM, but you might need to alter that for tail winds or headwinds and terrain clearances. If you work out that descent rate and the distance, that will give you the angle, which on average would be about three degrees or so. Multiplying your Mach speed by 30 will give you a good ballpark figure for your required descent rate in a jet. Al

On the DESC page you can look at FPA or Flight Path Angle. Do some tests any you can get your own data there.
