ASE - Range Suppression not working

Featured Replies

Hi there. I'm using FSX, the latest build of ASE, FSX Standard Depiction Mode, and Automatic Downloads every 30 mins. I have Use Local Range Suppression and Suppress on Ground checked, the suppression ceiling is set to 10,000 ft, and the Local Suppression Range is 100nm. The problem is that I still sometimes get weather updates below 10,000 ft, and the weather updates on the ground, which creates the stuttering effect at the worst times, i.e. when departing, landing, or taxiing. This has been the case with all builds of ASE. Any idea what the problem might be? Thanks a lot. David Midgett

Hi David, These updates should not be initiating below your defined suppression ceiling, but it would be normal for a write session to start above the suppression ceiling and continue through until its finished, possibly below 10,000ft. I will put this on the list to test for within the next day or two. Is this with B647 or B649? In either case I would recommend trying a higher altitude to see if this helps (i.e. 20,000), or just below your cruise altitude. As for updates on the ground, you can prevent this with the "suppress on ground" checkbox. This way you can refresh wx manually when you're ready, and it won't update again until above your suppression altitude (i.e. another flight).

Hi. I'm using build 647. I do have Suppress On Ground checked, but it updates anyway. I'll increase the ceiling and see if that helps. Thanks. David Midgett

Hi David, We'd suggest contacting our helpdesk (www.hifitechinc.com support button) and forwarding your logs from a problematic session so we can take a look at this. I just ran a test and things are working properly including suppress on ground and suppression ceiling, so something else may be a factor here, which hopefully the logs will help us identify.
