FEX or REX hang up!

Featured Replies

Hi folks, It's a simple question: which is visually better; FEX or REX? But as simple as it is to ask I just can't seem to pin down an answer. Of course the question of which gives the better Bang for the Buck is another one that has often been answered in place of the "Which is Better" question. But the Bang for the Buck question doesn't answer which is visually better. So how about some of you guys that have one of the 2, (or both), can you give your opinion here please? If it helps, (and it may), I have GEX NA, GEX AFME, UTX USA and UTX Alaska. In addition to that I have Scenery tech's South America and Africa. And also FTX PNW and a whole lot of little add-on airstrips, (I'm sure I forgot something). With that kind of enhancement package I was hoping to try and get a good idea of which of the two, FEX or REX, would do the best job with the skies and waters. Thank You.

REX is visually better in my opinion. But even if there was nothing to choose between them, REX would still be the better choice, since it is more often updated and does more. The only downside of that is that it's a much bigger download. Al

Thank You Al! In fact, I hadn't thought of the updating and care for the project by its makers. I was partial to REX in doing my own assessment when comparing the two's screenshots in their ads. But I couldn't really be sure. But I think I'm going to go with your opinion/assessment. I've been vacillating on this long enough. The size of the program doesn't really concern me because I have quite a bit of memory open and now that I started using a very good defrag program, (Ultimate Defrag 3), I can actually specify where I want the program kept on the disc for the quickest access. Of course how long it takes to download is another thing. I haven't checked yet to see if REX offers an online download option when you purchase it or if they sell the Disc only. But I'm sure to find out soon enough. Thanks again.

I have Flight1's FEX and think it's great. Both have the capability of thousands and thousands of scenery variations/themes, etc. FEX has lots and lots of premade themes put together by fellow flight simmers. I do not own REX but heard it's a great product too. REX has a weather engine and FEX doesn't and that's the major difference. I use ASE for my real world weather. Best regards,Jim
