  1. Actually, the answer is YES! You can download spacedesk for tablet from the Google Play store and spacedesk for PC from the Spacedesk website (https://www.spacedesk.net/). [It's a freeware]. Then from the same Spacedesk website download the Windows 10 PC driver, which is required. The ultimate results is that it treats your tablet as a 'second monitor' for your PC. You then 'drag' your "second monitor's desktop" to your tablet, (via wireless or hard-wire connection). Then you can run LNM on the tablet while flying in the sim... Here's a guy who posted a tutorial on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/embed/oij4e37gHXQ?autoplay=1. I'm sure he meant well but I must warn you that his annunciation is terrible and to make matters worse, he mumbles and speaks far too fast. In addition to that, (which is already enough), he added some music in the background (I really hate that in tutorial videos). Aside from the very distracting music (in a already hard to understand delivery), the music occasionally drowns out certain parts of his, hard-to-understand, rapid-fire, speech. The video is only 6 minutes long, but if he would have omitted a lot of superfluous info (he was of mumbling, so it sounded superfluous to me, but...), the video probably would only have been 5 minutes. Then again, if he spoke at a normal speed, it probably would still be 6 minutes after the omissions were made,,, Yes, I realize this is not a sparkling endorsement, but then, I myself, am still unclear as to the questions of necessity or application for such a program, and the potential resources it may require. In fact, it was my concern for how much CPU/GPU resources Little Nav Map would need, that prompted me to look into running it on my Samsung 10.1 Pen Tab. I did download the drivers needed for Spacedesk and the Spacedesk program itself, but I haven't installed any of it to my PC... (Yet). I also downloaded and installed Spacedesk into my Android tablet, but I'm beginning to feel like this idea is going to use more resources than if I simply installed LNM into the PC and ran it from there. I've been building my own desktops for 10+ years and the one I have now was built from the ground up in late October 2022, (and a CPU/GPU upgrade less than 2 months ago). It's the most powerful and expensive computer that I've built to date. It can handle MSFS (with almost all relevant settings at the maximums), and all high-res 3rd party addons with no problem, but like anything in life, there's a limit. If I keep adding a little here and a little there, I'm bound to hit that limit sooner or later. That's why I wish addons like LNM, Volanta, and others like those, would be available for remote use in a simple tablet installation. However, even though I can build hi-perf computers, I know nothing about programming them. I have no idea what it would take to create an empathetic link between a PC and a tablet. Therefore, I must accept whatever is presented as being the only possibility, (especially if it's a freeware gift). FWIW, Rich
  2. It seems that I may have to try removing T360 and see if that allows the AI mission aircraft to be visible and the general AI aircraft Skins to return. I think that would be the best "start" to finding a solution. However, from there, I can't really say what the next step would be short of reinstalling the entire sim, (as I said, that would take weeks and no guarantee of success). Anyone? Rich
  3. HI Folks, I was flying my "Resort" mission to try out my new GTX 1070 card, (which is doing a great job), and when my copilot started spotting the F16s that were supposed to be flying by, I realized they were not visible and they were silent too! Not even a contrail and I remember that I could always hear the sound of the jets flying by but now they were entirely inaudible as well! NOT new to FSX, (quick & short background history): I've been flying FSX since at least 2011. I have $$$ invested in 3rd party scenery including all the FTX Global stuff, FG Mesh, REX and more. I run FSX at 4096 resolution and 6.50000 LOD and maintain 32FPS. FSX is installed on its own, dedicated, SSD and I've been building my own systems to suite the sim for years. OK, so you can extrapolate from that, the fact that I'm not new to the sim and that it’s a recent issue that didn’t exist before. BTW, I do have the 2-disc acceleration pack set (Deluxe Gold). I read on line that an FS9 AI BGL could cause this and/or disabling the "aircraft casts shadows on itself" will sometimes fix it but I never had that enabled. Even if I did and doing something like that fixed it, I wouldn’t consider it ‘fixed’ because I’m looking to repair the actual problem itself. I knew I had a problem with the AI visibility weeks ago, (the aircraft skins were invisible but the interior of the planes were not), but I was too busy to address it and I thought it would be easily fixed if I removed and then re-installed Traffic 360. I tried that but it didn’t work. I didn't think to check and see if I still had the problem before I re-installed T-360. I didn't know the problem affected the Mission AI aircraft until just a few days ago. I ran "Traffic 360" Registry check & Fix tool but no cigar. Yesterday, I ran the Acceleration disc and selected "Repair" but that didn't work. I couldn’t find anyone who had a problem with the default Mission AI aircraft as I do. The info I found on line referred to the default, in-flight AI aircraft. No one mentioned the Mission aircraft issue. Before I "Push the Panic Button" and reinstall the entire sim, (which takes weeks to do because of all the add-on software and tweaking edits), I was hoping someone could give me an idea as to where I should focus my attention. Thanks, Rich One more thing; The GTX 1070 card was installed only after a complete, and carefully done, removal of all my AMD software & drivers for the 7970 I replaced. I did use the Guru3D DDU software and after I installed the GTX, I installed the latest Nvidia drivers. I DID NOT install any other additional software that came with the driver package. There is a Nvidia control panel that you can adjust various GPU settings such as Anisotropic filtering and settings like that. I noticed that if I turned on the V-Sync, my FSX screen would be completely blacked out. I have to wonder if some setting like that can affect t the AI textures and not the installed aircraft or AI vehicles and boats. I may have added the Mission AI aircraft problem to my existing ‘semi-invisible’ AI aircraft issue when I made some kind of adjustment in that panel, no?
  4. Never mind, I overlooked the screen resolution setting in FSX panel somehow. I could have sworn I checked that but apparently I missed it ! Everything is fine. To anyone who was about to offer suggestions; thanks anyway  Rich
  5. In fact, I'm about to install FS Reorder! I've been "FSX'n" for over 5 years and I always knew about FSR but for one reason or another, I didn't install it. However, I understand that it'll make it possible to actually see the carriers when you're landing on them, right? I mean, the recorder in FSX will let you do that but I want to see the landing from another POV than from inside the cockpit. I can't land if I'm not in the cockpit so I can't record the Touch Down moment. From what I understand, that takes a little doing but FSR is where you start. Then comes the video recording software and finally the editing. I have one of the best Freeware video recorder I've ever seen. It's called VLC and it has all kinds of things you can do with it. The only problem is that I have never had the time to learn how to do it, lol. Rich
  6. If I'm understanding you correctly, what you want to do should be very simple. Open FSX and setup a flight with the plane of your choice on the runway, tarmac, wherever. then after you take off select "View" from the taskbar and a drop-down list of various POV options will be available. The exact POV may not be available if it wasn't in the aircraft's cfg file, (you can change that but that's a different subject entirely). Otherwise, select "Lock Spot View" and then cycle through the FSX default views which will all be outside the plane. Then zoom in/out, move left/right/up/down to position where you want to be. Now, while flying, you may want to have the A/P set. Or, you can fly for a few minutes and then Playback the flight and record it at that point. Here's the thing, you need to go to "Options" in the task bar and in the drop-down list, select 'video record this flight'. I'm paraphrasing but it'll have something like that indicating to record a video. When you select that, the screen will go black, a box will open, and it'll ask you what frame rate you want to set the video recorder to. 1/4 will give you the best quality but of course, bigger file. Then select the "Record Now", (paraphrasing again but select the one that indicate to begin recording). The screen will return to FSX and you'll see a red bar on the bottom left of the screen indicating that you are recording. You press the ESC key to stop the recording and the screen will immediately go to the final selections for your video,. Title, (you only get this chance to name it so be sure that's the title you want), and any notations to yourself that you want to make. The video will be saved in your O/S Library in "Documents">"Flight Simulator X Files" folder. If you named the video "Flying in xxx" for instance, then you would scroll to the "F's" in the list of FSX files and you'll find it there. If you double click it, FSX will startup and the video will begin. the file name is ".fsr" and I have yet to find a program that could convert that properly. That said, it's been a while since I searched and I think you may be able to find one now. Rich
  7. Will Do. I can't even begin to imagine why, but regardless, I'll go change it as soon as I get back from the shop. Rich
  8. I appreciate the info, (I'm sure this post/topic is old by now), because that's exactly why I didn't care much about recording flights. I want to record a landing on a carrier but I can't land if I'm not in the plane! If I tried to record the playback, the carrier would be missing, (always ###### me off from day one, and I've been "FSX'n" over 5 years). I checked out you vid and I totally understand it being your first and all. It was ok but you didn't demonstrate the real important point, (at least to me and a number of others), regarding the ability to do that landing and record it at the same time. I'm going to FINALLY install FS Recorder and give that Evid a shot. If it works within reasonable expectations and effort, I'll stand on a street corner and shout it out ever yday for a month! lol Thanks again, Rich
  9. Does anyone know how to make EZDOC work if the HOTAS you're using is fed through a profiler?! After years of hesitation, I bought EZDOC two weeks ago and just like I was afraid of happening, it doesn't work with my TARGET profiler, (or with the Saitek SSD profiler for yoke systems). I own a Thrustmaster Warthog and two TM MFD panels as well. I've always used the TM Warthog HOTAS with a profile I setup and run through TARGET. Same with the Saitek Yoke & Dual Throttle setup I use for Yoke planes, I always used the SSD Profiles I made with that. Using the profilers gives the HOTAS many more capabilities and once the profiler is set and saved, it's easy to add or change to suit separate aircraft on an individual basis. That said, I freed up all the num keys and page keys, and all the keys that EZDOC instructs to free up before I installed EZDOC. I used the TARGET profiler to reassign my commands to HOTAS DX buttons. So if I wanted to 'trim-up' for instance, instead of assigning my HOTAS button to “press” the num pad 2 key, I made the Trim-Up activate via the same button but as a DX number, (if that makes sense), which would now be in the FSX key command for Trim up. I deleted numpad 2key assignment in FSX along with all the other ones listed by the EZDOC instructions. I did that with all my buttons and switches and as you all know, that isn't a one or two minute thing. So I was pretty ###### when I could make the EZDOC work after giving it some simple, basic assignments as demonstrated in many video tutorials. I'm pretty sure it's because I go through a Profiler tool. For those that don't know; you have to open & run the profiler tool (TARGET) simultaneously when you want to use the profile you assigned to the HOTAS, (That's pretty much the way it is with any HOTAS Profiler). HOWEVER, in all fairness to EZDOC, I only just realized that my "Accu-Feel AL&S" software MAY be affecting the EZDOC program! I don't know this for sure and so I won't say that this is a fact. I searched to see if anyone mentioned a problem with Profilers and EZDOC and I guess I didn’t use the right search terms because I never found any info about that problem. But I'd like to know if it's possible to use the EZDOC Advanced Effects WITHOUT using the and/or applying the camera view button assignments? If so, I may still be able to get this program to work, but I don't know.
  10. Unfortunately, I have a number of Water surface enhancers that I'm pretty sure would be all but useless at a Low 2X setting. That said, I'll give it a try and see how big the difference is, (re; the water surface). So far, it seems I'm having to give up too much for the little I gain in DX10. The main problem is the external lights don't show up on many of the aircraft, (sometimes they do if the POV angle is just right), and the scenery lights below flash and behave the same. But I'm interested in seeing just what that 'spike fix' setting would look like. Thanks, Rich
  11. WOW! Thanks to you both! That tears it, I'm going to install the 13.11 Beta 9 vrsn two and shoot the works. I always did wonder why I the water settings were often recommended to 2xLow or that vicinity in many articles of various websites. It makes sense that the cloud reflections would hit the shaders and work up the GPU. Anyway, I'm a tech writer and I have a two week deadline on a job that I haven't even started so I plan to apply all these changes in the next two days during my 'off time'. Thanks again!
  12. Ok, sorry for my confusion but a lot has been posted in a recent two days that has caused me to get lost on what has and has not worked. The place I'm not clear in has to do with the CCC versions. I think it was Cvearl that said he installed the 13.11 Beta 9 vrsn 2 and got very good results with only a default FSX.cfg and a few alterations as listed just above. If that's correct, then are you in effect saying that you have removed all the additional 'Steve Fixers'? Also, you all seem to be alluding to the water setting as one of the 'key points'. Most of the time I see that the settings are in the Low x 2 area, (I run one notch down from max along with FS Water Configurator freeware). Yet this last time, I see that Cvearl has set his water to Max. Cvearl seems to come close to my FSX add-on setup, (All 4 FTX main areas, UTX USA & Alaska, GEX USA, AFME, Tropics, and Scenery Tech SA and AF. I also run Genesis worldwide with 5 mesh in many areas as well as REX). I cap my Frames at 30 and use VSync and presently run CCC 13.5 Beta2. But if the CCC 13.11 Beta 9 vrsn 2 is working well with the 7970, I think it may work for the 7850 as well, no? I'm speaking in regards to both modes, DX10 Preview on or off. Anyway, that's how I presently understand what I've been reading as far as ATI cards are concerned so if someone can confirm that I've understood it correctly or not, I would appreciate it. If I don't have it right, no worries, I'll just keep following the thread until I get it right.lol Rich
  13. Thanks for telling me that Busterbvi, I had read the registration instructions and they did say that they would not accept email accounts that were free to the public, (such as Hotmail, Gmail, etc), they didn't list AOL. But my AOL account is a payware account which is why I used it. That said, it would seem you're right and they don't accept AOL either because I never did get an authorization link. I'll use that link you posted for me, (Thanks again!), and see if I can get through. You know, I never did try to download the package without registering because the info on that same page stated something about needing to be registered to download any of the freeware offered. But I may have misinterpreted the statement, (I don't remember the exact way it was put). I'll check again and if I have to be registered, I'll contact them via that link. Rich
  14. Well... I hit every UKMIL link that even remotely had an inference to the Harrier and it seems that the only way I may be able to get that sound package is to download and install the UKMIL Harrier. I thought I was just a click away from a sound package for it and I registered with UKMIL in order to obtain it. But even though I used my AOL payware account, I never received that final authorization link, (which was to be sent to my email), that the instructions spoke of. I checked the spam folders as well so maybe they need more time to look over the registration or something. I'll keep an eye out for any incoming email from my AOL account, (I typically use my Gmail), and if they send me the authorization link, I'll try to get back to the spot where I thought offered the sound package only.
  15. Thanks! I'll 'Google it' now. I haven't tried the pack I've downloaded yet but I hadn't seen any endorsements for it either. That makes the UKMIL sound pack my first try, lol.
  16. I just want to say that your review regarding the Wilco Harrier was spot on! I also feel that one of the most unfortunate points of Wilco is their Support system. I must say that I've received a response to my support requests 97% of the time but it would come when I've all but completely forgotten that I even contacted them. I just don't believe they can be so 'large and busy' that they need 3 weeks or more to "review" the question after the submission has been placed. One more thing; In your "What's wrong with this picture" game, you overlooked the fact that the compass is mismarked as well as backwards. They have the 150 degree mark labeled "250". In fact, I thought that was the 'answer' to the screen shot until I read the paragraph below it. I recently purchased the Razbam Harrier and must say that it seems much more consistent with what I've read about the Harrier and its FD. However, Razbam's sound file will drive you mad if your in the cockpit! I just don't believe that the real thing sounded that terrible, (very high whining pitch), and if it did, those poor pilots are probably all insane by now. That said, if you haven't already, check it out. It's really some top quality work. I have a freeware sound file that I found in FlyawaySim for the Harrier and plan to replace the Razbam sound file with it. Even if it's not as precise as the Razbam's files when outside the cockpit, I'll still be happy if the insane whining is ommitted within the cockpit. Then I can resume learning what to do with all those buttons!! lol Rich
  17. OK, I see. No I haven't installed it yet because I wanted to be sure that I haven't installed an earlier version months ago. You see, I don't seem to have the 'flashing' problems that this fixer handles and it may be because I've installed an earlier version and simply don't remember. So I wanted to know where it would have installed itself if I did have it. Because my FSX and all the addons, (with exception to Megascenery stuff), has been installed on a dedicated HDD seperate from the O/S drive, (my specs are in the signature), it's likely that I would have directed it to the MS FSX location upon installation. But if I did, I don't remeber and I don't know if I should install a software that addresses a problem I may not have. This latest setup of FSX, (about 4 months old now), is the best I've had in over 3 years, Dedicated drives are the key I think), so I appreciate it and I'll check out those locations ASAP. Thanks, Rich
  18. Wow, those airport lights, (particularly on the posts), are off the hook! Did you have the weather set for light fog or is that 'foggy lighting' look from the lights themselves? Oh, BTW, are you guys just not telling me where to find the DX Fixer file within the FSX folder setup because you really don't know what I mean? I cantry to re-phrase if that's the case, but otherwise give me a break!
  19. To be clear, I'm asking anyone who can please answer that question. It's not exclusively directed to Charles. So once again, the question is: "Where would that fixer, (Steve's DX10 fixer), be located within the FSX files? If it's an addition made in the FSX.cfg file, what heading would it be under and would it show the version of that fixer, (I know there were earlier versions and I'm trying to find confirmation)." Thanks, Rich
  20. @Charles: Thanks Charles and I didn't express that last thought about DX9 very well, (I was interrupted while I was typing that). What I'm trying to say is basically what I had asked regarding the DX10 fixer... Where would that fixer be located in the FSX files? If it's an addition made in the FSX.cfg file, what heading would it be under and would it show the version of that fixer, (I know there were earlier versions and I'm trying to find confirmation). Thanks, Rich
  21. @ Cvearl when you said: “This is Drivers 13.4, 13.9, 13.10, 13.11. Cloud Shader on or off in the fixer does not matter.” Do you mean you’re somehow running all these simultaneously? (If so, I didn't know that could be done). Or maybe you’re saying that you get this result with those drivers/CCC after trying each…Either way, switching from one version to the next is a 15 minute process at best! At least it is for me. Actually, I’m running 13.5.2 Beta but if, and when I change, the process of totally removing the old version and the restarting and CCleaning, and regedit hunting, takes me an easy 20 or 30 minutes. And then I still have to install the new version! The 13.6 version didn’t go well with my card, (MSI R7850PE), or something because I tried to install and work with it at least 3 times and couldn’t get it to work. I went back to the 13.5 Beta and all the time and hassle it takes to remove/install the latest 13.11 Beta CCC is why I haven’t even tried. I figure if my results with the 13.5 Beta is working, I may as well stay with it. I don't run the DX 10 Previwew because I have some add-ons that say something to the affect that their software isn't set to run with the DX 10 Preview on and I can't remember which ones they are... But I get pretty much the same results as you're showing in those pics. I run an easy 2 to 3 hours with all my sliders to max except the Terrain Res which I set to one notch down, (15 cm). I get a very nice 26 to 30 fps and even my wife, (who couldn't care less), came in last night while I was flying around Milford Sound at dusk and just kept saying how it looked like the real thing. When my wife reacts like that, you know you've got it right! lol I know this is going to sound stupid but I don't know where the DX Fixer config file is located or if I even have it installed, (my gues is that I do). I wanted to see what version I had and try a few tweaks that you guy's are talking about but where is it? The reason why I think I have it installed is because I seem to remeber having done something like that abou past 6 or 7 months ago but I just can't be sure. @Bionor “On a siden note; I'm considering buying the R9 290X, excited to see if the problem persist on that one as well:-) I bet it’s not!” Man, I’ve read the specs on that card and checked out some reviews and comparisons and it looks almost too good to believe! I mean for the price, that R9 290X is apparently one of the best new cards out there! If you do buy it, you need to post a few results. The comparisons put it just behind the 7970 which costs almost twice as much. Rich
  22. Wait Michael... are you saying that you DID remove all 3 of those to get the results, or you plan to but haven't yet? Rich
