October 22, 201114 yr Hey guys, For some reason I have discovered a problem with my ATC today. Over the last few days I have uninstalled Traffic2005 and installed WOAI and it seems that must have caused the problem. Basically, there is no sound in my ATC, if I talk or if AI planes talk, there is no sound and no yellow text either although I am able to respond and ask questions. I also discovered that there are no names to select in the pilots voice box in the ATC section in fs9 settings. If it helps I am running windows 7 64bit. Could anyone please help me, really hope I dont have tp uninstall and reinstall everything (and even then it may still not work..who knows).

It does sound like in uninstalling Traffic2005 a needed file got lost. Hopefully someone can identify the problem file or a procedure to reset things.

Thanks for the reply KF, fingers crossed someone can help. I'm at a complete loss as to how to fix it. Good luck in the rugby btw!
October 23, 201114 yr Without stating the obvious, is the 'Opem with ATC' box ticked when you first boot up FS9 ? Tristan Living in the beautiful Chilterns. October 23, 201114 yr Yes, check all your default ATC settings. Some addons like EVP can change them.vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
October 23, 201114 yr Author Thanks for the replies. All my ATC settings are fine, with the exception of the drop down menu when trying to pick pilots voices. There are no pilots to choose in it. Its like as if the ATC sound and text file have just vanished. Any other suggestions??
October 23, 201114 yr This is just a shot in the dark, but when you uninstalled Traffic2005 you may have lost the main ATC sound files. Shouldn't happen, but anything is possible. Look in your main Sound folder and see if USEnglishBig.gvp and USEnglishASOS.gvp are there. If not, you can get the files from one of your FS9 CD's. The contents of each CD are shown at http://www.cat-tamer.com/flightsim/faq001.html. Let us know if you have any luck. Regards, JerryH
October 23, 201114 yr Author Thanks JerryH, I looked and those two files are in the sound folder. Could they have been changed in any way maybe? Any other ideas? Hang on actually, I have USEnglishBig.fst and USEnglishASOS.fst....not USEnglishBig.gvp and USEnglishASOS.gvp. Is it just a matter of changing .fst to .gvp?
October 23, 201114 yr Author Right, problem solved! It was just a matter of changing .fst to .gvp! Thanks a million JerryH, I have trawled through so many internet sites looking for the problem and spent literally hours over the past couple of days trying to fix it and you have made my evening! Thanks again mate!
October 23, 201114 yr I'm glad you got it fixed, fogerty. Like I said earlier, it was a shot in the dark. Fortunately, you saw that the filetype was .fst instead of .gvp. and made the fix. Looks like Traffic2005 uses .fst to backup your original, but forgets to change it back when you uninstall. We learn something every day.Enjoy your next flight!Regards,JerryH
