460 GTX or 560 GTX Ti

Featured Replies

Throwing together a new build based on a I7 2600K with a MSI Z-68 ED55. This will be housed in a coolermaster elite 343 Micro Atx case. My question is regarding which video card to use. I currently have a gigabyte 460 GTX 1GB card and was wondering if I would be better suited with a 560 GTX Ti. I HAVE A 19" Samsung LCD with a native resolution of 1280 x 1024. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your timeMatt

I guess 560Ti

I would say for that resolution & FSX a GTX560Ti is way overkill. My nº 1 priority would be a nice 23/24'' 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 monitor. The GTX460 should be able to handle that resolution pretty well actually, with 8xS or 8xSQ.Matter of fact a monitor is cheaper than a 560Ti

Thanks for the input, I would like to have a 23/24" monitor, unfortunately with my current computer room setup (which I do hope to reconfigure in the near future, it's a furniture issue) I can't fit a monitor that large or even a regular size computer case which is why I'm stuck using a Micro ATX case. I'm kind of leaning towards the 560 ti, just in case I do end up moving to a larger monitor, hopefully sooner than later. Matt

Hey my HD 5450 handles 1280x1024 pretty well so I guess dazz is right about the 460.

A 560Ti is not that huge of an upgrade over a GTX460 that overclocks so good. Your call, but I would wait until you get the monitor, by then there will be better / cheaper cards, Kepler is round the corner, it's a new architecture on a new manufacturing process and a mid range Kepler may outperform current top of the line 570 - 580

Thanks for the help guys. Dazz you convinced me to stick with the 460 for now, thanks for saving me some $$$ Looking forward to getting this new rig up and running. Matt

Waiting for Kepler here too! At this rate, I'll probably have this GTS 250 paired with an Ivy Bridge chip before I get my Kepler... Anyway GTX 460 performs well - good call on waiting.
