January 29, 200422 yr Basically, I was thinking then I could put into FSAutoSTart an option for each program you want to launch before starting FS to select the preferred processor it runs on (only if your pc has more than one "processor").Then I would like to see if I can get handles to each thread that FS runs, and set the Ideal processor on each one.I am under the impression that the OS is supposed to do this for you automatically, so this may come as zero benefit. Why do you manually set the affinity for F1 Meridian?
January 29, 200422 yr Basically if you run the Meridan on a HT enabled computer you get poor performance.I am pretty sure the reason for this is the Garmin trainer that the Meridian uses is a 16 bit application and some how affects the way HT works thus bringing FS to its kneesWeather or not any gain can be had from assigning threads from FS I can't say, I think thats a bit technical for me ;)CheersDan.
January 29, 200422 yr Oh, so you mean when you want to run the F1 Meridian you have to disable HT?Interesting...
January 29, 200422 yr Author Really fascinating thread here. In fact, it's a super-thread (no, on second thought, it's a hyper-thread!) Thanks everyone for the thoughtful and interesting comments. Learning a lot here.
