Cancun seems to be coming together

Featured Replies

On several occaisions, I have suggested that Cancun needed to be redone - not just the airport but the city, Hotel Zone (HZ) and the surrounding area including Isla Mujeres (IM) and Riviera Maya (RM). If you have been to the area, you know how poorly it is represented in FSX. This is a fairly old pic of the HZ http://www.fodors.com/news/story_4458.html .. It is more built up now and the city is much bigger (not in the photo). Still, in FSX, there is barely any autogen in the entire area. The areas that are not built up are filled with dense mangroves but in FSX, they look like desert. First, a couple years ago, we got Tropicalsim MMUN 2010. This was a significant step. It included the new runway and T3 but it missed some of the details like road traffic and appropriate vegetation. In addition, it just addressed the airport and not the city ot the surrounding area.Next we got the Scenery Tech NA landclass. That helped the city a bit but did little for the vegetation and virtually nothing for the HZLast year, AMS released their Cancun scenery for FS9 http://secure.simmarket.com/aviation-multimedia-studios-cancun-2011.phtml . It includes the surrounding area, the HZ and IM but it is only for FS9. They have been promising a FSX version for a while but nothing has materialized and their forum is currently filled with spam. I accidentally purchased the FS9 version while slightly inebriated (I don't have FS9 installed). I did manage to get it in to FSX just to see what it looks like. It airport is a step up from the Tropicalsim version and it does include a OK rendition of the HZ but it doesn't work in FSX.This week someone called Latin Enhance released scenery for Cancun and Isla Mujeres designed to work with the Tropicalsim scenery http://secure.simmarket.com/latin-enhance_cancn-x.phtml. I gave the product a chance and when comparing with the screenshots of the AMS HZ and IM scenery, I think it does a better job at depicting the HZ and IM. It is not perfect by any means but I think it provides a correct feel of the area. It also adds road traffic and more vegetation to the Tropicalsim airport. So, in short, If you have the Tropicalsim scenery and you want a little more, the Latin Enhance product is a very usable option. In fact, although the airport looks a little better with AMS, I doubt I will buy the AMS version when it is released for FSX.If you like to fly in the area, I think you will like the Latin Enhance scenery. Right now, it is as good as you can get at it may be better than the next option that has not even been released.

It´s a photorreal are for Cozumel and some autogen too. It costs only 6 euros and give a ittle more of life for this beautiful area that i visited in real life last year and saw how amazing it is. There is a free airport for it too in the usual fs download sites. Thanks for your report. smile.png
