Does anyone know why KDET was down to 2 runways last night? I was flying there from KIND and there was about a 30 minute delay on the ground before we were cleared to TO? Just curious..

Over the summer they were doing maintenance. Also KDET doesn't have that many runways to chose from either, and the winds have been pretty funny here this week which might limit things even more. I am about 8 mile due north of the airport.

Where were you going? There could have been a ground stop.

Well guys I blew this..My dumb bad, I should have said- DTW. We were sitting in the aircraft in KIND in a CRJ waiting to take off and the pilot came on and said that Detroit was down to 2 runways.

Then I have no idea. No mention of anything in the news.
