What loads when

Featured Replies

I don't know if anyone from here is following the big g3d.dll topic in FSX forum, but I'd like to try something, if it's anyhow possible!I've discovered that some sceneries that load runways and taxiways first onto a green palette when flying over first and then later the ground, tend to crash the sim. I discovered two sceneries that do that.Aerosoft EBBR and EDDF.They load runways first, pretty close to the airport too, and when you are really close, the whole ground texture. Some other sceneries load ground texture way before you are really close to the airport, then runways come up, and then the general airport scenery, closer you get.I would like to know if it's possible, for a noob, to change what the scenery loads when. For instance change that ground poly is loaded earlier, and other stuff later, ontop of ground texture.I have no idea where I would start and what to do. There are only already compiled BGL files, nothing else.Any way to do it?Thanks.

A very interesting subject, Word Not Allowed. I have never taken a look at this issue, besides noticing, like everyone else, that terrain loads first before objects or AI. But, in what order is a good question. Perhaps somebody here will know and enlighten us.But, in the meantime, I seem to remember that FS likes to load bgls in alphabetical order, so perhaps you could note the names of the files and that might be an interesting clue. Or not, it all depends, doesn't it?Best regards.Luis
