Small radius of sharp textures

Featured Replies

Hi guys, good day to all.I'm having an issue I'd love to get help with, This is not PMDG related, but since these forums are frequented by persons who are very knowledgable of FSX in general, I figured I'd post it here:I have noticed that my textures look blurry and out of focus except for a small radius under the plane. How can I increase that radius, so that distant ground looks better? As an experiment, I tried temporarily sliding all terrain settings to max, but that didn't help, so I'm wondering about other settings/tweaks/parameters I can try for that specific problem (something in the fsx.cfg perhaps?).I'm not specifying what hardware I have on purpose, because I don´t want what I have or don't have to distract from the issue, as I beleive it is a configuration issue, not a hardware issue.Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Armando Arjona.

This should be in the FSX Forum, but the solution is very simple. Go to FSX settings, then click costimize, then click scenery, then move the slider that says Level of Detail Radius to Medium, this will lower FPS by 5.Hope this helps.Aaron G.

It should, and I apologize for that. I wouldn't mind if the thread is moved or deleted.Thank you for your response. As mentioned above the issue persists even after moving all sliders to max, that's why I was wondering if there is something else I should change.

I know this is not a hardware problem, but at what resolution do your run FSX and do you run it in full screen?Aaron G.

I run it in full screen, at 1280x1024 which is my screen's native resolution.

Could you please send me a screenshot.Aaron G.

A higher LOD_RADIUS will in general reduce the blurries. 4.5 is the maxium achievable from within FSX configuration screen, that is not a very long distance at all. Personally I keep mine at 5.5 or 6.5, depending on where and what I fly. You need to manually edit your fsx.cfg to be able to set an LOD_RADIUS higher than 4.5Setting up your gfx cards driver is also a critical point. If you have an nVidia card then follow the instructions in this thread -> http://forum.avsim.net/topic/324786-nvidia-configuration-guide-inspector-2xxxx-drivers-version-20-explanations-of-all-settings/. I'm not sure how this is done with an AMD gfx card

Some older ATI drivers are bugged in FSX and totally kill AF. Is it an AMD GPU?what is Anisotropic Filtering set to in CCC or Inspector?
