Flight Plans

Featured Replies

I use the flight planner program AivlaSoft to make flight plans. With this flight planner i have the capability to specify the landing runway. When I load the plan into the 737NGX FMC and look at all the waypoints the landing runway is shown, for example RW26. If I open the APPROACH page in the FMC there will be no frequency/heading and no GS On or Off selection. When I fly the plan and on the final approach to RW26 the GS bug starts down and just goes right on by the center position and does no lock on and I do a manual landing. I have found that I must specify the landing runway within the FMC ir order for the frequency/heading and GS On or Off option to be available. In so doing it becomes necessary to edit the waypoint in the approach to get rid discontinuities. This is really not a big deal but it would be nice that as long as there is a runway specified after loading a flight plan that the approach page would always show the frequency/heading and GS On or Off.Regards

I choose the STARs and SIDS from the FMC as well. I have never confirmed, but wondered if the altitude and speed restrictions come accross from the EFB flight plan.

It happens the same using Flight Commander flight planner. You can plan SID, STARS, Transitions etc... but you have anyway to insert the ILS runway in the FMC and you have also to clear discontinuities into the FMC.It took me several days to understand that but it seems a common minor " issue " among third party flight planners or FMC import feature, dunno.

I use Flight Sim Commander and EFB to best determine route, sids, stars, etc. After I have completed the information on FSC or EFB, then I enter all the relevent data on the FMC. It doesn't happen automatically unless you load a previously saved plan. Even if you save a flight plan in FSC you still have to duplicate the data on the FMC.

Dennis my preference on Flight Planners is AivlaSoft rather than FSC. I used FSC but AviaSoft provides a much better presentation and much more comprehensive planner. In your answer you just beat around the bush and present nothing specific.
