December 2, 201114 yr Hi,Just made my first NGX video. Here's the link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ss_vKWfb3tIA basic description:My flightplan was EHRD to LEIB. Departing via the WODY1B SID. My arrival was the POS1N STAR, to ILS 24 at LEIB, via the BEBES transition. At about 2000 feet, I disengaged the autopilot, for a manual landing. I always land manually, just love that. I always really happy with the performance of FSX, 30 fps right here at LEIB, with maxed out scenery except for water which is on HIGH 2X. But when using Fraps, unfortunately the video gets really laggy...If you have any better ways to record, in HD (!), please tell me!Thanks! Arjen Vandervelde
December 2, 201114 yr Author EDIT: in the beginning I wanted to make the video a little longer, from G/S intercept altitude (2000) feet, but the upload times are soooo long. Arjen Vandervelde
December 2, 201114 yr Author First - well done and great landing....Which scenery is that? Looks fantastic!Yeah thanks :( It's Aerosoft Ibiza X. Really great and extremely FPS friendly, unless you use Fraps lol... Arjen Vandervelde
December 2, 201114 yr Nicely done. It is a very nice first video, and stunning clarity and quality of the effects and scenery :) Thomas Danielsen - FAA Commercial Pilot, JAA ATPL
December 2, 201114 yr Hey Arjen, thanks for video and how can you get 30fps ? My system; AMD x6 1090t 3.2Ghz ( OC 3.7) ,4X2 GB ram and GTX 560Ti . and we have same fsx settings. But, I could get 30fps just on high altitudes. Especially, with aerosoft EHAM , I just got 12 fps. ( it wasn't stable, changing between 12-30 fps) I did bojote's fsx.cfg. What should I do to get higher frames ?

What should I do to get higher frames ?I get 30 fps on Aerosoft Ibiza X. I also have Aerosoft Amsterdam. On my old pc, i7 860 2.8 GHz, GTX320, 6GB, I was really struggling with the fps. With max settings I would only get 10 fps or less. After I upgraded to an i5 2500K and overclocked it to 4.5 GHz, that made a MASSIVE difference. I went from 10 fps to about 20-22 fps on the same airport. You have a better graphics card than me yes, but a graphics card will not make as much difference to FPS as a good processor. You have a CPU at 3.7 GHz. Above 4.0 GHz, that's where the performance is really gonna increase a lot. Also, AMD CPU's are not as good as Intel. I recommend you buy a good Z68 motherboard (the one I have is great), and an i5 2500K, overclock it to 4.5 GHz or higher. Make sure you get a good cooler also! The one I have (Scythe Mugen 2 REV B, is by far enough!). If you would have an i5 2500K, you would get much more FPS than me.Also make sure you have the correct settings in FSX and your FSX.cfg. First of all make sure you do NOT use water effects MAX 2X, but use HIGH 2X instead. Also make sure that you use Frame Rate to Unlimited inside FSX. In your FSX.cfg, make sure you have these entries at least[JOBSCHEDULER]AffinityMask=14[bufferpools]UsePools=0RejectTreshold=131072Under the graphics tab, which should already be in your FSX.cfg, make sure you have this:HIGHMEMFIX=1That last one will make a massive difference, make sure you have HIGHMEMFIX and not HIMEMFIX.About the Bufferpools, for newer graphics cards, like the one you have, this MIGHT work better, but try both[bUFFERPOOLS]UsePools=1PoolSize=70000000RejectTreshold=131072If you already have these entries, but still not seeing good performance, then buying an i5 2500K and an Asus P8Z68-V Pro, is really the only way to go here. Don't go with the i7 2600K! Useless for FSX, and it will cost you more. For around 300$ you can get these two parts and of course you can sell the old ones! Please note: you can not put an i5 2500K in the motherboard you have now!Your RAM and GPU are already on top of the notch! What should I do to get higher frames ?The i5's have a good bit more brute math horsepower than the AMD CPU's. Having six cores doesnot mean too much to FSX. IE: I'm running a Phenom II quad, and the difference between twocores and four is quite small.Clocked up to 4.5 ghz, the i5 2500k is a pretty mean CPU. It will eat my Phenom II for lunchin the overall scheme of things. And I suspect for FSX use, your six cores is just barelybetter than my four. Mark Keith
December 2, 201114 yr I recently upgraded my system and it costed me 1100 USD with new monitor :(. Actually, I was so confused to bought a Phenom II X4 980BE because of its higher speed (3.5Ghz) I wish I did! I might made a mistake choice of CPU. I think I need a good cooler and try to overclock up to 4Ghz to get good fps. I really hate Microsoft :)

If you sell your old parts, you don't have to pay as much for the new ones!FSX will not take any advantage of 6 cores over 4. 6 is overkill. Just like 16GB RAM and a 3GB graphics card is overkill too. 4 cores is perfect. Arjen Vandervelde

December 2, 201114 yr Arjen, thanks for your fsx.cfg advice now I get 5 more fps with aerosoft EHAM :) By the way, with this overclock settings ( with stock fan) I get 55-60 C temperature with FSX running. Is this normal ?

Is this normal ?Yes, these temps are perfectly fine. I'm also running 50C in FSX with an aftermarket cooler. As long as you stay below 70 your fine. Arjen Vandervelde
December 2, 201114 yr Thank you Arjen, plus I am sorry to overshadow your first video with this irrevelant things
