2 great sceneries

Featured Replies

I see from the front page we are to get 2 great new scenery packages. The ISD Linate scenery looks very good quality. I just hope they change the installation method from that which they used for LIPZ & LIPV, that prevented you from easily installing to FS2k2 & FS9.The Japanese scenery is an OMG :-eek Some of the screen shots suggest fps will be reasonable except one of VC shots is showing 7fps :-(I note with interest the photo scenery includes night and seasonal textures, something which photo scenery has not had yet AFAIK.I have had some Japanese airports since FS98 and all of them have been of very high quality so I expect no less from this DVD, but at what price :-)Once more details and user impressions are out I might have to ask my VA to extend ops to Asia :-)

There was also a photo-scenery for Poland announced recently, and one for Switzerland. Also, don't forget Megascenery. They recently released NY, and San Francisco is due for release in march. France VFR released two small sceneries, using a special technique to allow them to use 2 pixels/meter (yes, that's pixels/meter).All photo sceneries for FS are 4.8M/pixel because of limitations to the FS scenery engine. This means that framerate should be the same for all photo sceneries (not counting custom 3d objects or mesh detail). Typically, I get 40-80 FPS over photo scenries, they are much more framerate-friendly than the generic landclass-based sceneries. The Japaneese scenery looks great, really high quality photographs, excellent colours and clarity. It was not the first with night lighting nor the first to include several seasons however. Megascenery Socal, released last summer, had accurate night textures. Actually, Flight Unlimited III was the first to include night lighting in a photo scenery. It used a heat-source map to place highly accurate lighting in the scenery. Megascenery NY included winter textures as well as night lighting.
