Announcement: Aircraft Carrier Operation Package

Featured Replies

There is also the "cvn_7275.zip" in the library - this puts 2 Carriers ,both based on the Nimitz, off the coast of Thailand. After installing them you'll find them in th main airport directory under Thailand. With Arrcab, Waikito and these two you've got quite a selection to fly from . I believe there are a couple of "default carriers" somewhere in FS9 - but I've never found them .For those with a more historical inclination - some of the CFS aircraft(Corsair,Hellcat etc) seem to work quite well in FS9 with the arrester added( I've not put the catapult in mine as it wouldn't have been available to these tailwheel aircraft anyway). Only thing you may need to do is edit the aircraft.cfg file to get a shorter take of run if you want to use the angled deck for take off .Dave

Actually, both the Corsair and Hellcat used catapult launches late in the war off the big Essex carriers. A bar was attached to the underbelly of the planes in some fashion. So it wouldn't be cheating if you lower the catapult speed to around 90-100 knots.

tkjake Thanks for that info - I didn't know that. Now what would be nice would be a WW2 vintage straight decked carrier- any offers anyone.Dave

Well, as promised earlier, I have just uploaded the first of my panel reworks for this package here at Avsim. the file name is F14_Carrier_Panel_FS9.zip It should be available later today. Hope you all like it. Let me know. Todd

Thanks Todd. It finally became available yesterday under the name f14car04.zip. I just downloaded it and haven't had time to install it but the screenshot looks great. As an added bonus I noticed you also uploaded an F/A-18 panel (f18car04.zip) - also very nice looking.Note: FS2002 users may need to apply Rob's fixhttp://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=177431&page=6

Looks like alot of you are getting the panels I uploaded and I sure hope they are up to snuff and that you are enjoying them. I listed as many credits in the Readme as I could find, but if you know of someone I left out, please email me or post it here so I can ammend the credits to included them. I also tried to make this as easy to intall as I could and if you find anything that should be changed/clarified/added to make it easier, let me know that too. I went about this under the assumption that if you are even trying to add this, you must already be pretty familiar with installing addons.Once again, thanks to all the developers who have made this possible.
