LCD versus LED monitors: which is best overall?

Featured Replies

Dell has a new screen at 1920 x 1080 that looks attractive to me because of its smaller size at 21.5" and very small pixel pitch which should translate into a very sharp image all else being equal. What issues should one know about when deciding between LED backlit screens versus LCD w/ CCFL backlight? Thanks in advance!Noel

OK, that's an LCD Monitor of the IPS - In-Plane Switching type, with LED backlighting. The 8 mSec response time seems a tad slow for today's monitor's, but should be fine for FSX.Cheers,- jahman.

I want also go for Dell U2312HM:http://accessories.u...en&sku=320-2807What is about large response time: 8msec.Is it good enough for FSX or should I go for 5msec monitor or even lower? Thanks,
Hi Gregory, 8ms response time is plenty fine for any game--I play a few other such as Crysis 2, COD Modern Warfare, etc and this response time which is the same as on my other Dell is fine.

Hi Noel,Thanks for you reply.Yes, you are correct because what is important is Input Lag and not the response time which is only refers to Manufacturer of Display unit. The Input Lag for this monitor is great:625b67de_1012569265LL.jpeghttp://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2312hm.htm

I pulled the trigger last night on the Dell U2412M. I've wanted the 16:10 aspect ratio for other applications, and I found it for only $307. My wife really needs a new display (still using a huge old CRT which is very fuzzy!), but I will have a chance to see how it impacts FSX performance. If it's too much for my current rig she will be happy to use it, or if my rig can handle it, she will be happy w/ my 22" Dell which looks beautiful too. I'll let you know how it performs in this thread after it arrives.Cheers,Noel
