February 9, 200422 yr How do you engage the autopilot? Is it one of the ACU buttons? I didn't see this explained anywhere in the radio stack docs. The docs do say that the ACU functions with the autopilot, but not how. And I'm confused about even that. Do the NAV and GPS buttons on the ACU do the same thing as the NAV GPS toggle switch on the panel? The flap settings are 0, 7, 24, and 40. From my reading up on the real aircraft, they are -7, 0, 24, and 40. Is this an error in design, or does FS not allow for negative flap settings?-Basil
February 9, 200422 yr "Bump."No one knows?Actually, since posting the question originally, I now realize that the ANC is not even implemented in the panel. So I am even more confused about how to engage the AP.
February 9, 200422 yr Have you tried the standard keyboard commands? The aircraft is not fitted with an autopilot, but the default commands still work.Allcott
February 10, 200422 yr I think in a plane like this the autopilot consists of keeping your eyes open and your hand on the stick. Having a lot of coffee before a long flight does wonders for the mental focus. ;-)
February 10, 200422 yr Ah, but there are Maule's like this in TRW ("The Real World") equipped with AP's. Sure, on the shorter flights, if I'm flying VFR, I don't care about an autopilot. On the longer flights, especially IFR, I like to slave the AP to the GPS to ease the workload. It seems somewhat inconsistent for the panel to have a GPS, and even the NAV/GPS toggle, but no autopilot!Well, I'm gonna figure out how to get an AP into it, even if it is not in the panel per se, but is just a gauge that opens up into a window.-Basil
February 10, 200422 yr >The aircraft is not fitted with an autopilot...It is now. There was enough room above the existing radio stack -- where the "No Smoking" placard is -- to squeeze in the Bendix King AP.Now that I'm in a panel hacking mode, I need to find something useful to stick in the blank gauge hole. -Basil
