December 13, 201114 yr For us guys that like to fly outside of dwc I am hoping for some resolution for visibility controll. In FSX FSUIPC cant really controll the visibility anymore. It can but it is flakey. I am sitting here every 5 minutes watching the flight visibility go from unlimited to my set 55nm. It's driving me nuts and is a limitation between simconnect and FSUIPC. Also FSUIPC cant smooth the visibility anymore either. I am getting so sick of it that I may go back to DWC with its attendant problems of being surrounded by instant weather. ASE is a great program but cant we have it like fs9 where we had standard depiction and visibility smoothing? Can I request this for the next release?Good program but I still have yet to work out this cake and eat it too thing with ASE and FSX visibility. Marc Lynn
December 13, 201114 yr Author Ok now I have some more major problems. This is an issue I have had before when the vis is between 4-12 miles but now it is all the time. After my last post I exited fs and switched to dwc and closed out and reopened ASE. Now I am getting the visibility depiction looks terrible. I am seeing an fs98 style vis depiction. Instead of that hazy look it is a hard lined at the horizon and blocky depiction. This is hard to describe but as I rotate my view these blocks of visibility shift. In other words the terrain is visibility limited but the sky is not like it used to be. The interface is a terrible looking instant change that is jagged white in the distance. I have no idea what has been causing this and am hoping someone can finally help with this before I have to take 48 hours to re install. Marc Lynn
December 14, 201114 yr Author Ok so I found the culprit. Shade! This really sucks because I love this program so much nut I cant live with this. Attached are 2 screenshots about this problem one with shade and one w/o. You can see the one with shade is just horrible. However this is a systemmic problem with fsx and I cant for the life of me figure out why no one else complains about this. Its like puke on the Picasso and no one notices. Look at the one w/o shade and while much less visible look how the far rendering is. Is it just me or what, if so where have I gone wrong? Marc Lynn
December 14, 201114 yr Commercial Member Hi, please refer to my responses to your support tickets on this...This is great that you posted this hear though, perhaps some others have some kind of idea. We believe it is related to shade somehow, as we have received numerous reports recently about graphics issues being resolved by shade reconfiguration. But we're not certain. December 14, 201114 yr Author I cleared the cache for Shader mod, different from Shade. I have both but Shade only makes it worse. The problem I think may be Shader mod 3.0. After clearing the shader cache as was requested by Bojote after tweaking the Waterconstants.xml which I did. So far testing w/o ASE running and I have the same issue, but with ASE running and in DWC mode with smoothing and graduation for the visibility I did not see the problem when I set the visibility to 3 miles. I do notice however that during dawn and dusk the horizon remains unblended with the hard line similar to what you see in the above pics. I have the visibility set to 57 miles above 10,000 feet but takes the sun getting higher in the sky before I get that hazy look. Reducing visibility only brings this line closer to the aircraft and makes it more visible. It seems to be a color blending issue. Through proper color blending you get this hazy look but during dawn/dusk there can be a big change in colors between the earth and sky and this maybe difficult. Marc Lynn
